Here at CREW San Antonio, our hearts go out to all of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Please read the message from the Houston Chapter below.

A message from Susan Hill, CREW Houston President

It is with a heavy heart that I write this message as our city is truly devastated. Harvey's impact on the Houston/Galveston area should continue to decline over the next day or so with the system essentially gone from our area by late Wednesday. Flood conditions remain at dangerous levels over much of southeast Texas. Travel around the Houston/Galveston area is not recommended at this time.

With all the devastation Harvey has brought to Texas, it is heartwarming to be a part of CREW Network and receive the many uplifting notes of concern and support for our chapter. It is also amazing to see Texans come together and support each other, rising to the challenge of rescuing those stranded by the flood and providing the homeless with shelter, food and safety. Our city officials have also done an amazing job keeping the community informed and providing first responders to help those who are in need.  The spirit of Texas lives on and we will come back with a greater style than before this tragic storm.

For now, please continue to keep us in your prayers and consider donating to the American Red Cross.   The American Red Cross has been doing an unbelievable job organizing and providing shelter to those who have lost everything. I have heard several CREW Houston members are making their way to the convention center to volunteer and bring much needed blankets and towels. At this time, we need the waters to recede so the damage can be assessed. We will let everyone know what type of relief assistance our chapter needs as soon as possible, but the priority right now is for everyone to stay safe.

Please spread the word that the convention will unequivocally go on as planned. The convention hotel has reported no water intrusion and no problems with power. We look forward to seeing everyone in October and know this will be one of the best conventions yet!
As I end my note, the rain continues, but the heart of our city is alive and well.  God bless Houston.
Susan
