In This Issue
Dear CSAH Community,

March's spotlight topic is polypharmacy and medication. We have recently added a number of new resources about polypharmacy and medication to sagelink.ca.  In this issue, you will find resources related to medication management, over-the-counter medication use, prescription drug abuse and substance abuse.

A big thank you to all speakers and attendees of our 4th annual conference! Conference presentation slides are available here.

April 16th is National Advance Care Planning (ACP) Day. We would love to know if you or others you know are hosting any events to promote ACP in South Eastern Ontario. To find out more about ACP Day, please visit our  page . For resources to help plan your ACP event, visit the Speak Up website.

Save the date! Our next Research & Innovation in Aging Forum will be held on Tuesday, April 26th from 4:00PM - 5:00PM at the Learning & Leadership Centre at Providence Care's Mental Health Services site, 752 King St W, Kingston Ontario. This presentation will also be available via webinar. Dr. Chris Frank will be delivering a highly anticipated talk titled: "To be or not to be, that is the question: Getting ready for Physician Assisted Death".

We are pleased to share an open access overview course on sageducation.ca. A different overview will be featured each month.  This month we welcome you to take an overview course on Abuse & Neglect of the Elderly.  Please note that you will need Adobe Flash Player to run the course.

If you are involved with or know of a research project related to aging or the care of older adults, we would like the opportunity to share that information with our audience. Please contact info@sagelink.ca with the details you would like to share.

Sincerely,

CSAH team

Spotlight: Polypharmacy and Medication
Polypharmacy refers to the use of multiple medications concurrently. This is common in the aging population when managing numerous co-morbidities. Dangers arise when patients are prescribed multiple medications from multiple independent health care providers; adverse drug reactions and dependency or abuse may ensue among users.
