Aidan Keith-Hynes Returns in July!
Charlottesville's own
Aidan Keith-Hynes, who now lives in Los Angeles, returns this summer to be our DJ! Aidan has been steadily rising up in the competition ranks; here he is competing at
Jack & Jill O'Rama recently. Now teaching too, he'll make his debut with CSDS and teach a beginner lesson in West Coast Swing from 7-8 pm, included in your admission. Our
dance is from 8-11 pm with our popular West Coast Swing Lounge, all WCS music, from 10-11 pm. Admission is $10 for CSDS members, $13 general admission, and $5 for full time students and first-timers. All this happens at the
Municipal Arts Center where, along with the music and dancing, the air conditioning will be cranking! See you at the July dance on the 18th!

Swing Fling in late July/early August
Swing Fling is the next area West Coast Swing weekend dance event, held in Vienna, VA from Thursday July 30th through Sunday August 2nd. If you're thinking of going, reserve your hotel room ASAP as the event hotel always sells out! About 50-60 C-ville/Central VA Westies will be attending with many taking to the competition floor. If you've never been to a weekend event, this is a great one to go to, to take workshops from national pros, watch competitions, social dance until the wee hours of the morning, buy some dance shoes/clothing from the vendors, and meet lots of people and make new friends from all over the country! Adela) organize a Saturday night pizza party for Central VA Westies so if you plan to be there, contact me for all the details. Here are some highlights from Swing Fling 2014:

Jordan & Tatiana in Raleigh This August
Central VA Westies with Jordan & Tatiana (Sept. 2014)
Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollmann-Bennett, reigning US Open Classic division champions and considered by many to be
THE top West Coast Swing dance professionals in the world, will be making their annual visit to Raleigh, NC in late August (21st-23rd). Hosted by our dance buddy, Robin Smith, Jordan and Tatiana will offer two days of workshops that will stretch your minds and bodies and improve your dancing. Plus, it's a really nice relaxed atmosphere where we actually have a chance to interact with them, unlike at weekend dance events. There's social dancing Friday and Saturday nights at Loafer's Beach Club too, with a "for fun" Jack & Jill contest on Friday night! Visit Robin's

Dancers Engaged!
Congratulations to Central Virginia dancers Dakota Decker of Swoope and April Dawkins of Richmond, who met at the first West Side of Swing dance in December, and recently got engaged on June 9th! They have a September 27th wedding planned in Moultrie, Georgia. We're so thrilled for you and wish you a lifetime of harmony and happiness, both on and off the dance floor <3
