HIGH SCHOOL MISSION TRIP RECAP |
Last week on the High School Mission Trip was incredible!! We saw God move in amazing ways. On our last night we had a chance to debrief the trip. Everyone shared something memorable and something God taught them on the trip. The most memorable thing for me (Ben) was the attitudes of the students this year. It was amazing to see how they dove right in to the work that was assigned them. Not once did I hear complaining and grumbling from the students! Not only that but when I asked them to go prayer walking they jumped on it and lifted up some beautiful prayers to God for Dakota Sonshine. During the trip God taught me a wonderful lesson of leadership and letting the students lead. God used my ankle injury to give space for the students to step up and do the work. I never thought I would thank God for an injury but here I am. What a wonderful God we serve!
God did so much on the trip and I don't have near enough room here to talk about it. If you go to www.concordstudents.com you can read all of the blog posts in the feed. We wrote everyday on the trip about what God was up to in the lives of our students and on the reservation. On Sunday, August 14, we will have a recap that will feature student testimonies and a highlight video during the main service. Thank you so much for all your prayers and encouragement throughout the trip!

AUGUST TEACHING SCHEDULE |
During the month of August we will finish up our current series "Be A Bringer", welcome the new 6th grade class, and start up our "Who We Are" series. Since this month is one of transition with the new students we want to make sure that they are fully aware of what we are all about as a student ministry. For those of you that don't know our mission statement is, "We exist to lead students to KNOW God, OWN their faith, and make their faith KNOWN." During the "Who We Are" series we will break down what that means for our students and how we do ministry here at Concord Church. Below is the teaching schedule.

On
Sunday, August 14th at
11am we will do something new. We are inviting all the students and their parents up to the Rafters for a celebration of all that God has done during the summer. Between Mondays in Motion, Bible and Bisoctti, House Church, Middle School Mission Trip, High School Mission Trip and Breakaway there is plenty to celebrate! In fact we could probably turn it into a weeklong party but we will keep it brief for everyone's sake!
During our time together we will hear from students about what God has taught them. We will also watch the highlight videos including some additional footage that hasn't been seen! We will also provide lunch for everyone for free. We hope that you will be able to celebrate with us about all that God has done.

PROMOTION SUNDAY/BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
|
August 21st is
Promotion Sunday. This is when all of the students officially move up grades in CSM and we invite the new 6th graders upstairs. That morning we will have icebreakers and getting to know you games. We want to make sure that the 6th graders and those who are new feel welcome and honored.
On that same day we will have a church-wide Back to School Bash! This is a fantastic outreach opportunity to invite neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family. We will be at Swing-a-Round Fun Town in Fenton on from 1-4pm for unlimited access to mini golf, go carts, kiddie carts, bumper cars, batting cages, bumper boats, and an indoor playground. Advance tickets are just $5/person, and you can get yours at Concord on Sunday mornings or at the church office during regular business hours. (Tickets will be available the day of for $10/person. There's no cost to come and watch if you're not participating in the attractions. Food, drinks, and the arcade are also available at an additional cost.)

On October 16th Concord Church is going to make the switch to two services. The purpose of the switch is to provide more choices for families to be a part of our services and to strengthen our children's program by allowing people to serve in the children's area without missing the service. Our service times will be 9:00am and 10:45am. For Student Ministries we will continue to have our small groups on Sunday Mornings at 10:45am. I am excited that we will gain extra time in small groups on Sunday morning. We already struggle with having too little time so this will be a big win for us on Sunday mornings. If you have any questions, concerns or thoughts about this change please don't be silent! Call Ben at 314.843.3500 or email at [email protected]. We will also take some time to talk about this during the Student/Parent Summer Celebration.

Mondays in Motion is a chance for our students to get out and have a lot of fun while getting to know one another. These take place most often at church from 10am-Noon. See dates below.
