Managing a Diverse Workforce

A CT TRANSPORTATION LEADERSHIP PROGRAM ELECTIVE WORKSHOP

Research indicates that organizations with a diverse workforce achieve better results. Leading a diverse workforce requires the ability to foster an inclusive culture; one that celebrates differences and enables the best performance from everyone.

In this workshop, participants will reflect on their personal connection to diversity, expand their awareness of diversity concepts, explore the business case of diversity and gain knowledge on how to successfully lead their diverse team. Using group and individual activities, Kenya will work with participants to develop an understanding of how concepts like unconscious bias and generational differences impact the workplace.

Course Instructor

Kenya Rutland of KJR Consulting has more than 18 years of learning and development experience with a focus on creating high-performing individuals, groups and organizations. Kenya's expertise includes change management, coaching, customer service, diversity and inclusion, leadership and team development.

Describe diversity and how it can affect our identity;

Understand the advantages of a diverse workforce;

Identify strategies and best practices for successful management of a diverse group;

List at least 3 ways that their agency benefits from the diversity of their staff.
