Work Begins on Crafting New Conference Proposal

Just after the Annual Meetings of the Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut Conferences voted decisively on June 17 to move forward toward uniting into one Conference, Connecticut Conference Board Member Jocelyn Gardner-Spencer looked at Connecticut Conference Minister Kent Siladi and said "we have a lot of work to do." 

That work began in earnest on Thursday, when 14 members of the three Boards of Directors and the Conference Ministers met in the approximate center of the three Conferences - Woodstock, CT - to begin mapping out what comes next.

Conference Hires New Registrar
HARTFORD - Jill Ford, a member of the First Congregational Church of Granby, will start on Monday as the new Registrar/Program Administrator of the Connecticut Conference.

Ford has worked for six years as the Administrator for Friends of Holcomb Farm in West Granby, where she managed the donor and members database, maintained and updated the website and social media sites and handled accounting and bookkeeping.  Her career experience has also include working as a licensed insurance agent, a high school career counselor and an administrator at Trinity College.

New Video: SLCC Development Associate
HARTFORD -- The Connecticut Conference released a new Vantage Point video today. In this edition of Vantage Point, guest host the Rev. Ryan Gackenheimer, Executive Director of Silver Lake Conference Center, speaks with Heather Dineen, the new Development Associate at SLCC about her work at the conference center.

Dinneen's primary role at Silver Lake is working with existing donors and cultivating new supporters. She will attend many of Silver Lake's fundraising events, such as Fancy Camp, the Donor Dinner, and the 60th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for August 26, where she will interface with donors and strengthen those relationships.

The Rev. Virginia R. (Roger) Black, 90, of South Windsor, one of the United Church of Christ's first female ordained ministers to serve as an Intentional Interim Minister, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Brookdale South Windsor after a long illness. A memorial service for The Rev. Black will be celebrated Saturday, August 19, 2017, 1 PM, at Storrs Congregational Church.

The Rev. Dewey Frank Fagerburg, Jr., 88, of Lincolnville, Maine, passed away on July 14, 2017.  He spent the majority of his career as a Pastor in Woodbridge, NJ; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH and Danbury, CT.  During the period from 1975 through 1985, the Rev. Fagerburg was a "tent maker", also doing work beyond parish ministry and not paid by a local church. Services will be private.
