This past Friday, May 4th, CVCS squared off against Eastside Christian under the lights for their third and final matchup for the 2012 season with your Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Team completing the sweep. After 3 1/2 hours, a 20 minute blackout during the top half of the 7th, and several lead changes, CVCS came away with the 21 - 14 victory, clinching second place in the San Joaquin League and securing a playoff spot in the CIF Southern Section Playoffs for the third straight year. Senior Franny Manzo pitched 7 strong innings and helped herself offensively with another multi-hit, multi-RBI performance. Christine Girolamo straightened out an Eastside fastball and lined her hardest hit ball of the 2012 season into the right-center field gap while also playing a solid 1st base. Jordan Hodge and Tasha Peterson continued their hot hitting which contributed to the 21-run outburst.
Monday, CVCS faced their cross-town rival SVC for the second time this year and suffered their second loss in a row to the tough Warrior team. With the help of some great defense early on, Senior Jordan Hodge did a great job keeping your Lady Eagles close, pitching 5 strong innings. Even in the loss, the Lady Eagles showed a tremendous amount of heart and fought hard both offensively and defensively. Go Eagles!

SQUIRMING With The Principal

46 JK-3rd grade students SQUIRMING with Mrs. Hannum in the library! |
|
| |

SQUIRM is now underway with students showing enthusiasm about reading and meeting their goals. The first SQUIRM tally sheets are due on Friday. Please mark your calendars to join us for a SQUIRM assembly on Thurs. May 10th in the worship center: JK-3 at 8:30am and 4-6 at 9:30am.
SQUIRM, or Super Quiet Uninterrupted Individualized Reading Minutes, promotes daily reading by our students. It is our desire that each student participates in meeting our weekly SQUIRM goals that have been set by our classroom faculty. Although this is a reading program for our students, we want to encourage family time, turning the TV and computer games off, and promoting the enjoyment of reading a great book. Reading is one of the best activities that a family can do together! Students that see their parent(s) reading will see positive role modeling and begin a life-long enjoyment and passion for literature.

The course is for all incoming 5th-7th grade students. Classes meet for four days, for one hour each day. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Jennings at rjennings@cvcs.org Registration Form
