Calendar Reminders  
Labor Day Holiday

Central York School District will be CLOSED Monday, September 4, 2017, in observance of Labor Day. 

Classes will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Enjoy this three-day weekend!

Back-to-School Sessions Coming Soon

Central York School District will hold "Back-to-School" sessions for families this month. These are opportunities for parents and guardians to visit their child's school, meet teachers and staff, and learn more about what to expect this school year. The list of sessions is included below. 
  • Grades 7&8: Wednesday, September 6, from 6:30-8PM at Central York Middle School
  • Grades 4-6: Thursday, September 7, from 6:30-8PM at North Hills Elementary & Sinking Springs Elementary Schools
  • Grades K-3: Wednesday, September 13, from 6:30-8PM at Hayshire, Roundtown & Stony Brook Elementary Schools
  • Grades 9-12: Thursday, September 14, from 6-8PM at Central York High School
Please stay tuned for more detailed information from your child's teacher or principal.

Central York School District School Pictures for 2017-2018 are scheduled for the dates listed below. A make-up picture day will be scheduled and announced when the first round of school pictures is completed. 
  • Thursday, September 7 - Hayshire & Stony Brook Elementary Schools
  • Friday, September 8 - Central York High School
  • Wednesday, September 13 - Sinking Springs Elementary School
  • Thursday, September 14 - North Hills & Roundtown Elementary Schools
  • Friday, September 15 - Central York Middle School
Picture forms will be sent home with students. If you do not receive a form, or have additional questions, please contact your school office.

Central York School District participates in the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Students from families who qualify (under federal guidelines) will receive lunches and breakfasts free or at a reduced cost. In addition, qualifying Kindergarten students will receive free milk at snack time.

Applications may be filed at any time throughout the school year for any family experiencing net income changes. All information is confidential; discrimination is not permitted in accordance with district, state and federal requirements. New applications must be submitted annually. Applications are also available in all school buildings for families who do not have access to a computer or the Internet at home.

Important Immunization Info for Families 
Please read & make sure your child's records are updated to avoid exclusion from school

Attention Parents and Guardians of School-Aged Children: The Pennsylvania Department of Health has made several major changes to immunization requirements that will take effect August 2017. 


It is important for you to be aware of these changes and take action as needed to ensure your child can be enrolled in and attend school this year.  

The major changes include the following:

**Change to Provisional Enrollment Period: 
The provisional period during which students without vaccines or allowed exemptions are permitted to attend school has been reduced from 8 months to 5 days (starting with the first day of school for the 2017-2018 school year).

**New Vaccination Requirements:
**Combination form for diptheria and tetanus;
**Pertussis vaccination
**Combination form for measles, mumps and rubella; and
**Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV) for entry into 12th Grade

A child must have the required, medically appropriate vaccines and a record of those on file with the school nurse OR a plan to complete those vaccines on file with his/her school OR a completed vaccination exemption form on file with the school. If one of these three records is not on file with the school by September 6, 2017, your child will be excluded from school according to state law. 

Our school nurses are working to notify families who may be impacted by the changes to these laws, particularly the change to provisional enrollment and new requirements needed for specific grade levels (7th and 12th).

Central York School District receives information from many community organizations offering opportunities to participate in activities and events designed for children and/or families. 

All flyers are posted on   District and school websites, which are available to all  families and community members. Copies are available in each school's office for families without Internet access.

2017-2018 CYSD Calendar of Activities & Events Now Available Online 


Central York School District is pleased to provide our faculty, staff, students, families and community members with the 2017-2018 Calendar of Activities and Events.
 
As a cost-savings measure, the district no longer prints and mails copies of this 
calendar to all families.  Instead, we have provided a full,  downloadable PDF version  for your use.
Copies are available upon request for families of students or community members without Internet access. Please contact the Educational Service Center for assistance obtaining a copy at (717) 846-6789, ext. 1212.
