CaSE calls for evidence on impact of immigration
CaSE currently has an open  call for evidence on the impact of immigration on the UK science base. We aim to further  understand how and to what extent immigration policy affects the ability to attract international science and engineering talent to the UK.

We are collecting evidence and views from both individuals and organisations in the science and engineering sector via  this short survey.

CaSE will publish a report of its f indings including policy recommendations later this year, in addition to providing evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee's current review of the Tier 2 visa route.
Government launch Comprehensive Spending Review
The Chancellor will report the outcome of the  Spending Review on 25th November and CaSE will be submitting evidence to the consultation which closes on 4th September.

Before then, please do get in touch to share your organisation's priority asks for the spending review and  any supporting evidence from your organisation of the benefits and outcomes of public support for science and engineering.
BIS analysis
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) published new analysis on public and private investment in R&D.  The report suggests BIS may be understating the impact of public spending on private investment.

B IS currently estimates every £1 of public spending gives rise to £0.85 of private investment - but this new analysis suggests this figure may actually be between £1.13 and £1.60.

These figures are helpful in demonstrating the value of public investment in R & D .
