Asalamu Alykum Warahamtullahe Wabarakatuh,
I am writing this message to our community to inform you that the rights of some of our children in Calgary at the Islamic school have been violated by a local television news station.
It has come to my attention that Global News Calgary has been covering a story related to Honor Killings and has tried to tie our community to such heinous acts by taking pictures and video of our children at the Calgary Islamic School; primarily targeting some of our very young Muslim girls wearing Hijab.
Global Calgary News has taken these images without the consent or consultation of our Parents, or our School or the Muslim Council of Calgary.
Our children and our values as Muslims are innocent of the crimes they are trying to portray and connect us with. I must urge each of you to send emails and make phone calls expressing your feelings towards Global News for using our children to spread Discrimination, Prejudice and Hate towards the Muslims in Calgary.
We must not stand idle and let our image and our rights as Muslims living in a free society be tarnished at the hands of the media.
This is a call to action and I promise to take swift action with Allah SWT and your support. Do not be silent.
