With Christmas and other winter holidays just around the corner, don't forget to take some time for relaxed family fun and "me time" while you can!

Enjoy!

Without the benefit of body language, which can help soften or defuse tense conversations, online discussions are ripe for misunderstandings and heated exchanges. How can we make social media a kinder place for the healthy exchange of views?

Here are a few common scenarios and suggested solutions:

As a mother of six children, many times I have found myself comparing one child to another. Even though I know physical, emotional, and intellectual development will progress at a rate that is unique to each child and each will have their own strengths and weaknesses, when you are in the middle of a two-year-old tantrum over a seemingly trivial problem, it is hard not to think: 'Your sister never did this.'

No matter how long they have been together, couples need sparks, creativity, and fun in their relationship. As the years pass, they need it even more. Regular meetings are required in order to talk, have fun, and spend time together. We know that friendships survive on shared interests, yet as soon as we partner up with our very best friend, we tend to settle into domestic boredom and let the shared interests slide.

Although you may know that a mainstream public program just isn't right for your child, it can be difficult to know where to turn to find the perfect fit. Whether you're looking for something for your theatre kid, want a more faith-based learning community, or need a school which will keep your gifted child interested, Calgary has options for every child and for every family.

As a parent, it is frustrating to see your child struggle academically and lose their self-confidence. Maybe a tutor is the answer - someone suited to help your child achieve better grades and assist in rebuilding their self-esteem. Once you decide to seek help, finding the tutor and/or tutoring facility with the right qualifications to fit your child's exact needs may prove to be a challenge. But with some practical advice and tips, you will be able to help your child overcome their struggles with a successful tutoring experience.

Depending on your homeschooling family, you may find yourself needing to teach more than one grade level simultaneously. While this may seem like an overwhelming situation, with a little preparation and patience, you can successfully teach multiple grades.

I have four children, and this year has been the first year that I've really had four different grade levels going all at once. I'm not gonna lie to you, it can be slightly overwhelming! But with a little prep work and a few tips, you can make it work for your family, too!
