Stand with SOHO and oppose the complete demolition of the California Theatre project before the city council on Tuesday, April 4 at 202 "C" Street (12th floor), beginning at 2pm.
This priceless resource, including the Agua Caliente Racetrack mural, is proposed for demolition by Sloan Capital Partners, a venture capital firm that could easily choose instead to do a project that respects the historic resource, but they have said it would not provide enough additional millions in profit for them. As planned, the project violates the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The Historical Resources Board has opposed the project, while, true to form, the planning commission unanimously approved it this month and fast tracked it to April 4, city council as the last stop in the site development permit process and your last chance to make your voice heard.
