JOIN A MEMBER COMMUNITY
CFA Boston online communities let membership sub-group collaborate on projects, share knowledge, communicate, and connect. This platform also offers distinctly defined tools for web-based collaboration and group-work. For example, community members will have the capability to contribute time-sensitive topics in a blog or discussion, while maintaining knowledge-based articles in a resource library or wiki.

Communities also have the opportunity plan Meet-Ups, a casual style of meeting that combines networking and content. Meet-ups are member-exclusive, free of charge, and take place in different office locations around Boston. The are scheduled at various times during the day and are a good way to help member communities develop as a hub for communicating and sharing common interests, problems, and ideas.
COMMITTEES, INITIATIVES & TASK FORCES
MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT

MEMBER VALUE COMMITTEE
Originally formed in 2010, the CFA Society Boston Member Value Committee will focus on engagement of members in society activities. The committee leverages surveys and member demographic data to inform the value proposition for CFA Society Boston members. Current initiatives include networking events, mentorship program, young leaders programming, skills development, and member recruitment and retention. The goal of the Member Value Committee is to increase awareness of, and involve more members in, society benefits and opportunities. A sub-set of this group will also oversee CFA Boston's Mentorship Program.

CAREER SERVICES TASK FORCE
As part of the society’s strategic plan, career services will be an integral part of member benefits. The Career Services Task Force will focus on identifying member career life-cycles and career opportunities for members. The group will look at enhancing the job board, developing a salary survey, and executing events based on member career needs.

DATA ANALYSIS TASK FORCE
Are you a self-professed data geek? Here's a chance to show off your analytical skills. We need your help to understand member needs and make informed decisions to improve member benefits. This task force will review and analyze member demographics as well as data collected from surveys and focus groups.

YOUNG LEADERS COMMITTEE
CFA Boston's Young Leaders Committee provides younger members with an opportunity to develop a peer network through the society. This group focuses on networking, programming and leadership development.

INVESTMENT RESEARCH CHALLENGE
Mentor a student-team or grade reports as part of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. This challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
CFA Society Boston's Mentorship Program leverages the vast experience of our members, promotes professional development, and enhances members’ value. Members of the Mentorship Committee work to create successful Mentor/Mentee pairings by reviewing Mentor and Mentee applications to best match criteria such as work experience, education, industry niche, areas of interest, and education.

ADVOCACY TASK FORCE
The Advocacy Task Force will prioritize strategic objectives for CFA Society Boston’s advocacy and outreach efforts, including financial literacy, ethics and integrity, and promotion of the charter and the profession to the public.

FINANCIAL LITERACY INITIATIVE
CFA Society Boston’s Financial Literacy Initiative’s mission is to close the financial literacy gap by imparting financial knowledge without conflicts of interest, thereby improving the lives of the current and future investing public, the credibility of our industry and ultimately, the stability of our economy.

This community outreach program makes valuable financial literacy content available to the general investing public (high school onward) through alliances with non-profit groups. The initiative addresses issues such as Personal Finance, Basics of Investing, Retirement, Bonds vs. Equities, Choosing a Bank, and more.
