Call for Art Entries
Winter 2013
Greetings!

This is a call for entries for Woman Made Gallery's upcoming  group exhibitions. All shows are juried by professionals whose involvement brings new and challenging perspectives to the exhibitions. Membership is not required in order to enter into juried shows or exhibit at WMG.

These exhibitions are open to all genders, and artists may submit up to three works by mail with jpgs and application on a CD or online as digital files. Video artists may mail their entries or post video stills online and include a link to the video(s) in the statement section. Please include one detail per work only if necessary, as with book art or three-dimensional works or if areas in two-dimensional work need to be clarified. Accepted artwork must not exceed 72" horizontally or have been previously shown at WMG.

The entry fee for images of up to three works is $30. A statement related to the theme and your body of work is required. Please visit WMG's Website for more details.

Body and Brain

Exhibition Dates: May 10 - June 20, 2013

Juror: Ginny Sykes

Entry Deadline: March 1, 2013

What does it mean to "know something" in the body? What are the implications when our hair stands on end in fear, when we feel a rush of adrenalin, or just feel truth in our gut? The relationship between the mind and body has fascinated humankind for centuries. Research in the arenas of science, psychology, the arts, religion, and spirituality raises questions about this connection and how it impacts our lives. Does what we think affect our physical health? Or vice versa? Does spiritual or mental illness affect the body?
Artists of all genders are invited to explore these and any other facets of this endlessly fascinating area of inquiry with works in all media

Exhibition Dates: July 12 - August 22, 2013

Juror: Robin Hustle

Entry Deadline: May 1, 2013
"Slippery Slope" seeks work that recognizes and adopts pornographic aesthetics and conceptual modes. We encourage submissions that borrow from the ephemera of pornography: theater marquees, tongue-in-cheek narrative, sexual set design; that make use of its modes of production: collaboration, artist as director, artist as sexual actor; that share its vision: sexual arousal, utopian exploration, and the establishment of a relationship between the artist and the voyeur. Explicit sexual depictions are also welcome. Work in all media by artists of all genders will be considered.
