We seek inspiring media focused on individuals overcoming obstacles, art & science heroes, humanitarians, conservationists, human rights activists, and those working for positive change. Share your story with our global learning community.


Prizes awarded to elementary, middle & high school, 
 and college students for inspiring short films.


Prizes awarded to teachers, students and professional songwriters.  Winning songs / music videos are shared with millions on MY HERO.


Students can win prizes for making hero-themed art. Categories include:  Elementary, Middle, High School and College.




The Sylvia Earle Award, named in honor of the oceanographer and explorer, goes to a filmmaker who shines a light those working to protect the world's oceans. The award comes with a $500 prize donated by Barbara and Greg MacGillivray of oneworldoneocean.org.



The Immersive Storytelling Award goes to innovative VR content that promotes creativity, engagement, activism & social good. VR prizes donated by Oculus.


The Relationship's First Award honors  short films that depict in innovative ways the powerful and poignant connections in any type of contemporary family relationship. The award comes with a $1500 prize sponsored by Judith Anderson, Ph.D., Founder and President of  The Foundation for the Contemporary Family.


The Ron Kovic Peace Prize honors a short film that addresses the issue of world peace. The award included a $1000 prize to support the work of artists and peace activists seeking non-violent solutions to our world's troubles.


Dan Eldon was a passionate activist, artist and photo journalist. The Eldon Award goes to a filmmaker who uses media to inspire activism. The award is presented by his mother Kathy Eldon and sister Amy Turtletaub, of CreativeVisions.org.

Esteemed artist Robert Shetterly, founder of Americans Who Tell the Truth, presents The Shetterly Art Award to the artist whose work represents  a hero or a heroic act that has had a positive impact on the artist or society. The award comes with a $500 prize.

WRITERS - share your hero stories with the world. Ongoing submissions are accepted by The MY HERO Project. Student and professional writers are invited to register and publish heroic stories for our global community.
