Are you ready to share your ideas with your peers about arts and culture?
The City of Waterloo invites the community to submit proposals for the 2018 Amplify Culture Summit at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) on October 24.
 
Considered submissions will describe new ideas and involve local projects in arts and culture.
 
Why present?

Presentation format options:
  1. Presenter - topic presented with lots of time for Q & A
  2. Roundtable - topic presented with facilitated participant exchange
  3. Workshop - topic presented with hands-on or interactive component
 
Presentation categories:
  1. Belonging
  • Proposed topics could include: partnerships with cultural diverse communities, artists, non-profit groups, libraries; promoting aboriginal culture and heritage, preserving cultural heritage, youth engagement, partnerships with schools, artists, non-profit groups, libraries, health, multiculturalism, audience outreach and development, cultivating strategic allies, cultural heritage, responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report
2.   Innovation
  • Proposed topics could include: best practices in marketing and promotions, cultural tourism, celebrating arts and heritage; the case for culture, social media, technology tools, cultural mapping, employing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cultural facility planning, succession planning, building organizational capacity, grant programs, non-profit governance models, cultural mapping, technology and new media

3.   Placemaking
  • Proposed topics could include: innovative heritage, visual and performing arts programs, cultural tourism, Culture Days, festival planning and facilitation, arts programs that promote social cohesion, volunteer engagement, sponsorship, funding, animating outdoor spaces, plaza and park development, public art in transit infrastructure, assembly spaces, cultural districts

  • Sessions are 30 minutes including Q & A (the session timing will be confirmed with the successful presenter) 
  • Submissions will be reviewed by a jury on meeting the eligibility criteria, and connectivity to the summit's themes. Consideration will be given to ensuring a geographic diversity and community size.
  • Presenters will be profiled on the summit webpage and social media

    • working title and an abstract of 200-250 words
    • the intended format of the presentation
    • presenter's full name and email address
