Call for Volunteers

October 2014

The Canadian Library Association is calling for volunteers to serve on 3 CLA committees and a newly created task force:

  • Information Policy Advisory Committee (Chair)
  • Member Communications Standing Committee (2 positions)
  • Elections Standing Committee (Chair and 1 position)
  • Code of Conduct Task Force (2 - 4 positions)

The ability to volunteer for committees and task forces is a benefit of CLA membership.  Service on a committee / task force provides you with an opportunity to share your expertise, demonstrate leadership, and collaborate with colleagues on work that is essential to the Association and its mandate.  It also allows you the potential to shape CLA policies and positions, and to support the Association's advocacy initiatives.

The Call for Volunteers Form provides links to the terms of reference for each committee / task force.  The form also provides space to outline your interest in your selected committee.  Please note that you must be a CLA member to be considered for a committee / task force appointment.

Candidates should have a reasonable expectation of attending committee / task force business meetings, many of which take place at the CLA national conference, and should be active participants in the work of the committee / task force throughout their term.

Recommendations will be made by the Participation Committee to Executive Council which will consider each applicant for appointment; however, we cannot guarantee that every expression of interest will result in an appointment.

Please submit your expression of interest by completing the  Call for Volunteers Formby e-mail to: membership@cla.ca or by fax to:

613-563-9895.  The deadline for submissions is Friday November 14, 2014.

Thank you for considering volunteer service with CLA!

Marie DeYoung

CLA President and Chair, Participation Committee
