Background

AWB-Oregon is partnering with the organization Green King, which is dedicated to the revitalization of King School Park in northeast Portland. Essential to this project is the process of working with the local community to realize their vision of what the park could be. AWB and Green King will be hosting a series of charrettes in different parts of the King neighborhood to capture a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

This first event, at King School, will consist of an informal activity to identify user preferences, followed by small group discussions/mapping activities designed to help us understand the perspectives and values of many of our user groups.

You can help!

We need approximately 10 small-group facilitators, calm people who can ask open-ended questions, listen deeply, and guide a conversation around pertinent points such as "How do you use the park now?" or "What activities should a new park accommodate?" or "Do you have any ideas about how to make the park safer?"  Facilitators will also need to take notes, and be prepared to summarize their small -group discussions to the entire room during our wrap-up. Previous experience is NOT required. We will be preparing instructional "guides" for the facilitators to follow.

To sign up as a facilitator, or if you have questions, please email project lead Jon Creighton: joncreightondesign@gmail.com
