Contact Your State Representative TODAY!

Dear MRTA Members:

On Thursday the Senate passed SS#2/SCS/SB 313, it is now being FAST TRACKED through the House.  Please contact your State Representative TODAY!  As noted before, SS#2/SCS/SB 313 (Koenig R-15) creates a voucher program that will take money away from public schools.  In addition, a number of amendments have been added which further hurt public education in a number of ways.   Click here for more details.

It is imperative that retirees, public school supporters, including Superintendents, school board members, teachers, parents and patrons contact their local representative to voice strong opposition to this legislation.   WE NEED A MASSIVE RESPONSE FROM MRTA MEMBERS!

The MRTA 2017 Legislative Platform  (click here)  states MRTA opposes vouchers that take scarce state revenue for public schools and puts those dollars into religious and private schools/institutions.  It is estimated to require $25-60 million in state revenue to begin this voucher scheme.  It is estimated the costs will rise each year.

Dear Representative XXX

I am a voter and taxpayer in your district. I am also a retired educator and member of MRTA. I am writing to ask you to oppose SS#2/SCS/SB 313 a voucher type program. Vouchers take much needed and scarce tax revenues away from public education. As a whole, public education is doing a great job for Missouri and needs to be supported. Thank you for your time and attention to this request.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
