General Information |
This is a call for entries for Woman Made Gallery's upcoming group exhibitions, open to female artists or as indicated in the guidelines from anywhere in the world. All shows are juried by professionals whose involvement brings new and challenging perspectives to the exhibitions.
Artists may submit up to three works by mail with slides, on CD or online as digital files. Video entries are allowed if the exhibition is open to all media. Please include one detail per work only if necessary, as with book art or three-dimensional works or if areas in two-dimensional work need to be clarified. Accepted artwork must not exceed 72" horizontally or have been previously shown at Woman Made Gallery. The entry fee for images of up to three works is $30. CALL FOR ARTWORK: Seriously Funny (pdf)
Open to women artists from the international community whose work is expressed in cartoon-style format. Open to all themes.
Online Entries Submit jpgs of three of your works on our website. Mailed Entries Mail slides or cd with images of up to three of your works, completed entry form, and a $30 entry fee to Woman Made Gallery, 685 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60642.
Juror: Isabella Bannerman
Isabella Bannerman has been a cartoonist since 1987, when she won first prize in The San Francisco Bay Guardian Cartoon Contest. Her work has appeared in many publications, including Good Housekeeping, Glamour, The Funny Times, Mamapalooza, and World War 3 Illustrated. A collection of her work, Pacifists in Bomber Jackets, was published in 1999 by Laugh Lines Press. Isabella has also worked as an animator, contributing to MTV; Pee Wee's Playhouse; and the children's TV show, Doug. For more information, visit the Six Chix Blog.

CALL FOR ARTWORK:

Underground - Art Submission (pdf)
Open to women, transgender, genderqueer, and gender non-conforming people from the international community who make self-published zines, comics, and chapbooks, as well as print, graphic, and comic art in all media. This exhibition will include both a pop-up library of zines, comics, and other self-published works, and a show of installed artworks in all media. Apply to show in one or both exhibition components, but please create separate entries for each.

CALL FOR ARTWORK: The Project (pdf)
Open to all women artists, "The Project" calls for art in any media that involves persons outside the typical gallery sphere in its creation and/or its exhibition--work that is interactive, interdisciplinary, and/or collaborative. Accepted artists are encouraged to contact WMG if they wish to conduct a workshop, a discussion, a performance, or other events that are relevant to this exhibition and that extend the reach of the gallery beyond its usual audience.

Mary King is a professional artist and educator with a BFA from the University of Chiago and an MFA from Western Michigan University. Represented by Denise Bibro Fine Art in New York, her work is in various collections including the Anderson Fine Arts Center, Indiana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Michigan, and the Carnegie Center for the Arts. Woman Made Gallery (WMG) is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization founded in 1992. Our goal is to support women in the arts by providing opportunities, awareness and advocacy. We accomplish this through exhibitions which raise public awareness and recognition of women's cultural contributions. From 1992 through 2010 WMG has programmed 163 group shows, 104 invitational/solo shows, 36 Artisan Gallery exhibitions, and eight off-site shows. More than 6500 women artists have exhibited their work since WMG was established.
