Calvary Episcopal Church wishes you a happy, peaceful, and prosperous new year!
This Sunday at all services, please welcome guest speaker Elizabeth Brown
Ms. Brown is a member of Christ Church Cathedral where she currently serves as Junior Warden. She has been coordinator of the Cathedral's Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) program at the Cathedral since it began 12 years ago. She retired last year as Executive Director of Housing Opportunities Made Equal, a local nonprofit addressing housing discrimination. The Choral Anthem on January 3, 2016, 10:30 AM:
Words: Christina Rossetti
In the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter, long ago.
Our God, Heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for him, whom cherubim, worship night and day,
A breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay;
Enough for him, whom angels fall before,
The ox and ass and camel which adore.
What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a wise man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

Prayer |
O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature: Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
