ARTISTS ABOUT TOWN
Molly LeMaster's painting titled Driftwood 2 has won an award in the Northwest Watercolor Society Signature show now exhibited at the Schack Art Center in Everett Until January 2nd.
From Arnold Ronning

"We were treated by Mother Nature to one of the most spectacular foliage seasons on record in the Northwest.  Now the wind and rain are here, and it brings its own stark beauty and promise of renewal in the spring.  I have tried to capture both of these impressions in two new paintings this Fall.

Camano Island Leafless

Beginning in January 2018, Skagit Valley Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Washington, will be showing several of my paintings.  I invite you to keep an eye out for them among all the other fine artwork on display there."

COMMUNITY
CAA members Helen Saunders and Molly LeMaster worked with the National Art Honor Society students at Stanwood High School last month to create collaged self portraits.  They turned out great.

Here are a few photos to show the action. The first day was spent making interesting papers to use in the collages.  We printed, painted, stamped, and dyed papers.

They also really enjoyed using Never Dull to wipe off the ink and make interesting marks on National Geographic pages.

The second day Molly showed them her collage techniques and they got busy creating their self portraits.

They had already taken selfies and enlarged them for the project.

Tuesday
When is a dollar worth more than a dollar?

On GIVING TUESDAY!

Kathy Dannerbeck has worked hard for years to develop and build the CAA scholarship program. Thanks, Kathy.

Let's Support Scholarships for the Arts!

Camano Arts Association is participating in the local Stanwood Camano Giving Tuesday Charitable Donation Event! CAA is one of 21 local projects seeking donations. Our goal is to raise $6,000 towards Fine Art Scholarships to be awarded to Stanwood High School Graduating seniors wanting to pursue a degree in fine arts.

We hope that you will consider making a donation on Giving Tuesday, November 28th, to the CAA Scholarship Fund. The event is a 24 hour on-line donation event and all the information can be found on the  SC Give website . Follow along with postings and comments on the Giving Tuesday Facebook Page and on the  CAA Facebook Page  .

CAA was able to give $6,800 in scholarships in 2017. This tremendous amount was made possible by contributions from our friends, family and the community. Thank You!

Why donate on Giving Tuesday rather than another time?? Several local businesses and individuals have also contributed to help boost the donations to the projects.

  • All credit card processing fees for online donations made on Giving Tuesday will be covered by the Donna J. and Charles T. Cole Charitable Foundation. That means 100% of your donation will go directly to our project.
  • All donations made on Giving Tuesday will receive a proportional match from bonus pool funds donated by Paul & Melanie Sobotta, maximizing your donation even further. This means if we receive 5% of the total donations given through SC Give on Giving Tuesday, we will also receive 5% of the bonus pool funds!
  • Donations made through SC Give on Giving Tuesday will make us eligible for prize funds donated by local businesses .

Early Bird Prize (Sponsored by Re/Max Associate Brokers) - $500 to the project that has the highest number of unique* donors by 9 a.m. Any donation amount qualifies as long as it meets the $10 minimum!

Philanthropist Hour Prize (Sponsored by Lenz Enterprises) - Fund matching for the first 15 $100 donations from unique* donors given between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. ($1,500 total)

Happy Hour Prize (Sponsored by Coastal Community Bank) - Fund matching for the first four $250 donations from unique* donors given between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. ($1,000 total)

*Unique donors means different donors to the same project. In other words, if the same donor donates $100 twice to the same project during the Philanthropist Hour period, only one of the $100 donations will be eligible for the prize. However, the same donor can donate $100 each to different projects and have them all be eligible for the prize.

Please consider donating at least $10 before 9 am on November 28th! If everyone receiving this newsletter donates...we will win a bonus of $500 to put towards our scholarships! And you will know that you are helping the youth of today pursue their dreams!

While Giving Tuesday is an on-line event, cash and checks will also be accepted at various locations in both Stanwood and Camano. On Camano you can find a giving station at Coastal Community Bank at Terry's Corner; Windermere Real Estate - The Country Club Office; ReMax Associate Brokers at Camano Plaza; and the Camano Community Center.

You are also invited to attend the Fiesta of Giving Community Party at the Community Resource Center in Stanwood from 4-8 pm.

Please help spread the word and consider donating to CAA and the other worthwhile community projects!
Thank You and Happy Holidays!!
