Cambridge Youth Lacrosse and City Partner to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims
Cambridge and Milton Parks and Rec to collect donations
MILTON, Ga. , - The City of Milton is partnering with Cambridge Youth Lacrosse and Dignity Memorial in their widespread community effort to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

"We heard that our friends with Cambridge lacrosse were organizing donations to help Houston area residents at the same time we were considering ways we might help a fellow city," said Milton Parks and Recreation Director Jim Cregge. "There's strength in numbers so we thought why not get the entire city involved."

The City of Milton will serve as a host location for a day-long donation drive during opening day this Saturday, Sept. 9 at Bell Memorial Park from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Detailed donation and drop-off instructions are available below.

Cambridge Youth Lacrosse Board Member Eric Albro advised that the items being requested for this relief effort are as follows:
  • Blankets
  • Clothing
  • Toiletries
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Pet food
  • Cash donations [Donations collected by Cambridge Youth Lacrosse with 100% of donations collected going to the American Red Cross.]
Members of the Milton and surrounding communities are asked to bring their donation items to Bell Memorial Park this Saturday, driving through the park roundabout and stopping at the maintenance building gate on the other side of the roundabout. Volunteers will be on-hand to meet each car at the gate and assist with unloading. The City of Milton requests that no cars enter the gate to the maintenance area. After dropping off donation items, cars may then circle out of the parking lot returning to the front entrance/exit.

According to Cregge, all of Milton's sports program providers--Halftime Sports, North Georgia Recreation, Eagle Stix Lacrosse, Hopewell Youth Baseball, and the Milton Steelers--were eager to support Cambridge and the City of Milton in this effort. Each program will be assisting with getting the word out and driving donations from their program participants.
