News From Camp Jotoni
Every year preparing for the summer can be an enormous job for the Camp Jotoni team.  For the second consecutive year, L'Oreal's Franklin Manufacturing Plant volunteered their time to help with not only the opening of Camp, but improvements to our facilities.

Over 200 Volunteers came on June 12th to help with various projects including:
  • Building a stage for our new "Dance and Movement" activity area.
  • Building a wood box so we can store our firewood up near the campfire
  • Painting the exteriors of 5 buildings.
  • Cleaning of all cabins/bath houses.
  • Building new benches seating areas near cabins 3 and 4.
  • Screening in the porch behind cabin 2
  • painting the inside of bath house B.
  • Various landscaping/planting tasks.
  • and much more.

Families First

Please be sure to stop by our 'Families First table near the barn during the open house, as camper parent and Board Member of The Arc of Somerset County,  Bill MacKay and our Director of Development, Lisa Marie Arieno will be highlighting information about our continued Capital Campaign plans for Camp and our continued recruitment for parents to join the "Families First" committee.  "Families First" was set up to be a committee of parents and guardians of campers who are interested in helping out with outreach to their local businesses and network of family and friends for investment and donations toward our capital campaign.

This year, the campaign will be focusing on "Bricks" donations, where local businesses, corporations, civic communities and individual donors will offer capital donations to help us start the process of re-building a new and improved camp with our goals for us provide year round services to children and adults with intellectual/ developmental disabilities.  Committee involvement will include quarterly meetings at one of three locations at the Arc (Camp Jotoni, Arc office in Manville or the Development office in Far Hills) and these meetings will also be available by conference call.

Members of "Families First" committee can help The Arc of Somerset County and Camp Jotoni reach our financial goals by  helping to kick off our Capital Campaign this fall.

For more information about the "Families First" committee, please contact Lisa Marie at 908-725-8544 or e-mail: lisamariea@thearcofsomerset.org
