Meeting Jesus

Come meet Jesus! During Lent this year, Christ Church will gather on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Cummins Hall where we will "eat, share, pray."  Each day during Lent, you can receive an email with a short video & reflection. 

To sign-up for the daily emails, please visit There is also a daily journal you can  download and print; or you can purchase a hard copy from Amazon or us.  We understand that participation may vary from week to week. Feel free to come on Wednesdays having reflected all week, or having not reflected at all. Please send a RSVP to the Rev. Iain Stanford ( or sign up in the Narthex so that we know how to plan for our simple supper.

Stewardship Statements

We're encouraging our members to receive their stewardship statements via email. This Monday, February 12, we mailed your statement via USPS and email.

Parent's Night Out
February 17
Reservations are required by emailing with the names and grades of your kid by this Thursday.  

We invite those who are age 3 and potty trained through Grade 5 for an evening of pizza, games and activities.  This event is a fun way for your kids to build friendships here at church while you have a night out!  

The evening has a cost range of $200-$300 depending on the number of kids attending.  Donations in any amount to support this beloved time together are appreciated!
Potluck in the Park
Need Volunteers!
"Potluck in the Park needs a number of additional volunteers for our various teams.  We have an immediate need specifically for someone who can pick up our meals, drive them to downtown, help serve, and then bring back pans and containers. 

The process takes from 1:30 to about 5 p.m. This volunteer is needed for the even months of the year (February, April, June, August, October, and December).  

This request is from our Potluck in the Park Team 4 (which indicates that they serve the 4th Sunday of each month).  Please contact John Bacialli at John Bacialli at


William Temple House, has been an Outreach Ministry of Christ Church for the past 65 years. New and gently used, clean coats are now being collected for The William Temple House until Palm Sunday, March 25,. Please bring your coats to the church 

Lent is the season of preparation for Easter. Traditionally, Christians have observed Lent by praying, fasting and alms giving (an archaic term that means generosity towards others). We invite you and those you love to join us as we observe this holy season and prepare our hearts and our lives for Easter. Check out the many resources for Lent at

Change for Change 
Give your change for William Temple House for their work to change the world. William Temple House has since 1965 worked to provide food and clothing, spiritual and emotional support for many in Portland. Christ Church Parish has been a partner with William Temple since their earliest days. Your change helps them to continue in this work.

This Sunday! Opening the Prayer Book:  your introduction  to the 
Book of Common Prayer &
and how we pray with it!.

We will meet February [18,25] and March [4,11,18].  30 Good Minutes for Adults focuses on the The Book of Common Prayer. Since 1549 the Prayer Book has changes but it has continued to guide and direct worship and our common live and prayer. We hope you will join us to explore and practice using the Prayer Book. Come and see in this year of our lord 2018 that our Prayer book is still relevant! We promise.
Camp Registration is Open!

We've gone completely green and all registrations are being done electronically!  If your child attended camp last summer, you've received an email with the link to register for Spirituality and the Arts, ART Fusion and Vacation Bible School.

Project Linus

Project Linus for grades 2-5 starts this  Sunday February 18th !  For more than 20 years we've been partnering with this wonderful organization to make no-sew blankets for children in crisis.  We look forward to serving this organization together for the next 5 weeks!
The Well, Youth Group

The Well, Youth Group, will not be meeting on the 19 due to Presidents Day. We will resume with our regular schedule on the 26! 

Youth Dinner and a Movie, Saturday, February 24
Come and cook dinner together and relax with a movie! The evening starts at 5:30 and will be done at 8:30. Please send me movie requests, and make sure to RSVP so we know how many to plan for! Hope to see you there.

Committee Next Meeting!
Join us at our next meeting on February 27, from 6:30-7:30 pm here at church in the conference room. Come find out about future projects such as updating the Undercroft and Bride's bathroom!  You don't have to be a member to attend the meeting, just come to find out more about helping this fun group!  

Parish Spring Cleaning Day 
March 17--9:00 am-1:00 pm

Our Parish Spring Cleaning Day has been officially scheduled on Saturday, March 17 from 9:00 am-1:00 pm.

We need your help!  Join us on as we clean our facility and prepare our church inside and out to welcome visitors for Easter! The jobs will vary in difficulty. We will have work available for everyone. If you cannot stay the whole time, just come whenever you're available.
The Next Coming Baptisms 
for all ages occurs on Easter. Classes are offered for adults and children to prepare for this Holy Sacrament. Those interested in Baptism for themselves or their children should contact Rev. Iain Stanford at

Grief Recovery Weekend

A Weekend for those grieving the loss of a marriage by death, divorce or permanent separation, will be held February 23 -25 in Milwaukie, near Clackamas Town Center.

The retreat consists of presentations by Beginning Experience team members, periods for private personal reflection, and sharing in small groups. The cost of $195 includes lodging for 2 nights in a double room, meals and resource materials. Single rooms are available for an additional $20.
