But I know most of you used this idea to try to build your Network and Multi-Level Marketing ventures so don't do it for that purpose. These ventures need to be abolished as soon as possible and you need to start thinking about LEGITIMATE business ideas.

The above article was written for a black audience but everyone needs to read it. Like Atlanta, Austin, TX is also full of people involved in Network and Multi-Level Marketing ventures.
I have been generous enough to post events for local Austinites but I
do not post Network and Multi-Level Marketing events -- just so you know.
I spoke with one of my friends and he said people are involved in these ventures because they are too lazy to start a business from scratch.
I got involved over 15 years ago in Quixtar/Amway, a Network/Multi-Level Marketing company so I know first-hand how it works.
I was meeting with a team of people (my upline) every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday. I could have been running my own company on those days. So don't be fooled by these "Pyramid Schemes."
I was working on a high paying job making over $80,000 a year so I could have easily worked more overtime and made extra money, however, I got involved simply because I thought I was starting a business.
I believe this is also the reason many people get involved but basically you are still working for someone else. Sure millionaires and billionaires like Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and many others are involved in these schemes.
But just because these millionaires and billionaires are involved in Network and Multi-Level Marketing doesn't mean you should get involved too.
First of all you have to believe in the products. The products that I was trying to sell had very poor quality and after 90 days, I walked away from this venture but not before I gave a mouth-full to the 6 people in my upline -- who would not stop calling me.
I recruited one person during this time and I am sorry to say, I lost her friendship because of getting her involved.

and if you are involved in Network or Multi-Level Marketing, then sit back and reevaluate how you are living your life.
Do you really want to continue with this or are you ready to create your own business by using your own skills, talents and passion?
Everyone has talents which is of value to others so most people should look at what they are really passionate about. Many need to go back to school and see what it was they were good at in school.
For me it was English. My English class was always the best time of the day for me when I was in school so I loved English and writing so now I have created a lucrative business doing just that -- my own Empowerment and Publishing company,

The way I was able to figure out what business to start after I retired was -- I already had published my first book

in 2001 through another publisher and as I watched her operate her business, I knew first-hand that I too could start my own publishing company -- so that is how I got started.
Quitting at something doesn't mean you are a failure but quitting at something means that you are too good to ignore your true passion...your true calling -- so look at what you are involved with today and the people in your circle to see if it is time for you to really figure out your life.

CHAPTER 3
Give Your Children Love And Teach Them Discipline at Home
Love should always start at home. I told my daughters I would be there for them as long as they did just two things for me -- make good grades in school and take care and love one another.
Many kids go out looking for love in all the wrong places, especially young girls, simply because they are not getting it at home.
You have to instill values and principles into your children at a very young age. Remember words are powerful and you have to say powerful and positive words to your kids - often.
Your children need to know that there is absolutely nothing that they can't do with their lives.
I was very lucky to have worked for the federal government, which gave me time off work to care for my kids, unlike many jobs today.
My kids did not grow up in this GMO age, where over 90% of all foods in grocery stores today is contaminated with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), which is not real food.
However, it wasn't easy working in a male-dominated industry, U.S. Customs Service, where women were viewed as second class-citizens.
Despite having to work long tedious hours, and even go two days without seeing my daughters, I was still on the phone talking to my kids -- everyday -- finding out how their day went, about who they met and what they learned in school.
I had arrangements with other mothers to pick up and take care of my children - just like I picked up and took care of their children.
I wasn't hanging out or going out partying with these mothers - we were simply there to take care of our children.
If you don't discipline your kids then schools or police departments will. When it comes to discipline, students must learn discipline at home.
Parents must educate their children early to be respectful to police. Many parents rarely take time to research their children's rights and resources when it comes to the police.
As a result, the juvenile justice system places children as young as age 13 in detention centers, jails and prisons, where they can be raped and assaulted by adults. They become repeat offenders and the cycle is perpetrated.
It may be difficult now with the economy -- because of many parents, especially single mothers, working 2 to 3 jobs, but parents must try harder to reach out and discipline their kids at home.
Because of the value system I instilled in my daughters, I hardly ever had to punish my kids growing up. They never went through the terrible 2s or the terrible teenage years.
But when I did have to punish them, I would send them to their rooms. However, unlike today, they never had a TV, video games or other gadgets in their rooms -- so the only thing they could do was read.
