April 13, 2021 * Issue 3
We are delighted to share our latest updates on two major fundraising initiatives at Trinity High School -- our EmPOWERed Campaign and our Trinity Theater Renovation Plan.
EmPOWERed Campaign Update
Dear Trinity Community,

We continue to work with our partners at the Village of River Forest to care for all necessary steps for approval of our EmPOWERed Campaign construction project. Additionally, we are in preparation mode as we move forward with next steps.
Soil Boring
Nothing is boring about soil boring! This is a technique used to survey soil by taking samples to determine soil conditions. Trinity is in the process of completing this step in preparation for our EmPOWERed Campaign construction project. These borings performed will explore between five and twenty-five feet below the surface.
Join us for the
Sustainability Workshop
Wednesday, April 14th at 11AM
(Zoom)
As you know, Trinity is moving forward with the EmPOWERed Campaign plans for building and construction. Working with the Wight & Co Team, our architect Leanne Meyer-Smith and LEED Fellow Lois Vitt Sale will present a Sustainability Workshop. If you have ideas for more sustainable practices at Trinity or questions for our Sustainability expert, Lois Vitt Sale, please share with us using the survey below.
Leanne Meyer-Smith, AIA, LEED BD+C
Vice President Architecture | Licensed Architect

Leanne’s has over 30 years of client-centric experience that ranges from campus-wide facility assessments and master plans to complex interior renovations. She has supported educational clients on both new construction and large, multi-phased renovations. Positive collaborations with community and education clients have given Leanne a deep understanding of clients’ perspectives and the importance of the consensus building process. As a result, she is well versed in design and management of a client’s capital program, from strategic plan to ribbon cutting and beyond.
Trinity Moderators: Shena Keith (VP for Institutional Advancement), Dr. Roz Iasillo (Science Department Chair), Hannah Klein '21 (Co-President, Girls in Green), Maddie Breunig '23 (Co-Councilor, Environmental Blazers in Action).
Horizontal & Vertical Link

We plan to install a much-needed elevator and connecting walkway of the academic building to the Sr. Michelle Germanson Athletic Facility to improve our accessibility and security. The elevator will provide access to all floors in the academic building and each stop will offer a collaborative space for students and faculty. We are evaluating an option for an outdoor walkway on the second floor and green roof.
Enclosed Courtyard

An enclosed courtyard will be designed and landscaped for outdoor education, recreation, events, and green space all using sustainable practices. This space will offer an array of outdoor seating for our students in a beautifully landscaped area.
Auditorium Accessibility
We will be enhancing our ADA accessibility in Trinity's Auditorium. We are evaluating an outdoor ramp option as well as a chair lift from the academic building to the Auditorium and accessibility backstage.
