Canterbury-Beeson 
Forum on Aging 

Registration Now Available

The Canterbury-Beeson Forum on Aging is set for Saturday, August 12th from 7:15 AM-3:30 PM.  Whether you are a professional caregiver or simply a family member caring for an aging loved-one, this year's outstanding speakers can help you make the right decisions when you need to. Come join us for this series of presentations addressing dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other issues on aging.

Avonfest

Tickets Now Available

Save the date for Avonfest on September 17th from 5-7 PM at Cahaba Brewing Company (4500 5th Ave. South). Enjoy friendship, food and a beverage for an annual celebration benefiting Avondale Samaritan Place. Proceeds from the night will go to support all of ASP's growing outreach programs. Tickets can be purchased at the door as well as in advance at www.canterburyumc.org/AvonFest.

School Supplies

Donate Now!

Donate your contribution of $50 before July 31. It will furnish much-needed school supplies to an entire classroom at Avondale Elementary School this fall.

Grounded

The Clark Center 
for Theological Studies
Starts July 16

Come join the Clark Center for Theological Studies as we explore Diana Butler Bass' latest book, Grounded: Finding God in  the World, a Spiritual Revolution. Dr. Bass challenges us to believe that God is here, with us, in dirt and water and our suffering and homes and neighborhoods. 
 
Most of the study will be on your own or via email. Dr. Oliver Clark will lead an introduction to the study and distribute study questions on July 16 at 5:00 pm in Room M227 (Aldersgate). There will be a wrap-up session on August 20 at 5:00 pm.
 
Dr. Bass has written nine books and is a speaker in high demand. She will be lecturing at Canterbury on Nov. 4th and 5th.

Books are available in the Canterbury Adult Resource Center for $10. Register by email to ( [email protected]) or ( [email protected]).
