Capitol Update
Representative Jeni Arndt- HD 53
Assistant Caucus Chair; Chair of Agriculture, Livestock, and Natural Resources Committee;
Member of Business Affairs and Labor Committee

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Happy New Year from my family to yours! I hope 2018 brings everyone peace and happiness. I'll be kicking my year off with the start of the legislative session. Once again, I will serve as the Chair of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Natural Resources Committee and sit on the Business Affairs and Labor Committee. I will also serve as Assistant Caucus Chair alongside Rep. Daneya Esgar of Pueblo. I look forward to serving the people of House District 53 under the golden dome these next few months. If you or a group ever want to see democracy up close and in action, send me an email and I will be more than happy to reserve you seats on the House floor.

Earlier last month, I traveled to Kettering, Ohio for NCSL and the Kettering Foundation's workshop on legislator/citizen connections. For two days, I learned best practices on ways to hold meaningful and civil discussions on even the most difficult topics. There is always common ground and good solutions to the issues we face. I believe connecting with the people of Fort Collins is the best way to make political decisions, which is why twice a month Rep. Ginal, Sen. Kefalas and I host town halls. If you have never attended one before, make that a goal for the new year. They are every second and fourth Saturday of the month during session.
CGS workshop on water policy.

A couple weeks ago, I attended the Council of State Government's National Convention, which included a full day workshop on water policy. The day consisted of a wide range of topics, from investing in future water infrastructure to rate setting that ensures this resource is affordable for all people. The future of water needs to be collaborative and creative and I believe Colorado can lead the way.

Tour of TOLMAR.

Last week, I had the chance to tour TOLMAR, a biotech company based in Fort Collins. TOLMAR develops and manufactures generic dermatology products, including creams, gels and ointments. They are also a leader in creating specialty injection oncology products. It was a great opportunity to learn about what they are doing for the future of medicine.
CACD Awards

I recently had the honor of being named the Colorado Association of Conservation Districts' Legislator of the Year. CACD was established in 1945 to serve as the unified voice for Colorado's 76 Conservation Districts. They do important work like provide support to local farmers and ranchers to best manage their land and natural resources and collaborate with suburban developments to create wise and responsible conservation plans. Thank you CACD!
You are all invited to join me, Rep. Joann Ginal and Sen. John Kefalas for a Town Hall at Council Tree Library on Saturday, January 13th from 10:00am-11:30am. The address is 2733 Council Tree Ave, Fort Collins, CO, 80525. We will be taking question. Please join us!
