Capitol Update
Representative Jeni Arndt- HD 53
Assistant Caucus Chair; Chair of Agriculture, Livestock, and Natural Resources Committee;
Member of Business Affairs and Labor Committee

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Justice Greg Hobbs, Senator Sonnenberg and me.
On Wednesday, I spoke alongside Senator Sonnenberg and  former Colorado Supreme Court  Justice Greg Hobbs  about water rights in Colorado. Justice Hobbs spent his life as a public servant and has an infinite amount of knowledge on our state's water history.  I spoke about some of the bills I am running, that allow reclaimed water to be used on edible crops, marijuana, and in toilets. Many states already use reclaimed water for irrigation and it is time for Colorado to be more water wise.
CSU Cattlemen and women.
This week we the Capitol hosted people from around the state to partake in the National Western Stock Show. I spoke with CSU cattlemen and women about their role in  cattle and beef production.
Each year, Ed Bowditch and Jennifer Cassell write a "Legislative Session Outlook" to give people an idea of what to expect in the coming session. I find this to be one of the most comprehensive and helpful summaries out there. Above is a small passage. If you are interested in reading the entire document, here is a link below:

CSU graduate students from Science in Action.

This morning, I met with graduate students from CSU who are members of a group called Science in Action.  Their o rganization advocates for science and evidence-based decision-making in government and policymaking. They are doing amazing work on topics ranging from alternative fuels to preventing algae blooms.

Left: Maggie. Right: Nadia.

This year, I have two new interns joining my team from Northern Colorado. Maggie McBride is a lifetime Fort Collins resident who attended Lincoln Middle School and graduated from Poudre High School. She is an active and caring leader in our community and is passionate about the outdoors. She attends the University of Northern Colorado to study political science and environmental science. Maggie helps out twice a week and has done an excellent job. Thanks, Maggie!

Nadia Helmy is an intern from Colorado State University. She grew up across Southeast Asia and graduated from the Hong Kong IB Academy. She is an international studies and political science double major and has worked at INTO CSU for two and a half years. INTO is a program that helps international students improve their English with the goal of one day attending undergraduate or graduate school in the US or UK. Thank you for your hard work, Nadia!
