There's Still Time to Register for Angel Tree!
Registration is now open for the annual Angel Tree Celebration, presented by DFS, the CASA Foundation and Breakthru Beverage (formerly Wirtz Beverage). Join us on Saturday, Dec. 10 for games, activities, food, fun and even a visit from Santa Claus! Best of all, all children in DFS care will receive gifts.

When: Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016

Breakthru Beverage, 1849 W. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas
Pick from one of two available time slots (noon - 1:30 p.m. or 2 - 3:30 p.m.) to attend. In addition to games, gifts and meeting some of your favorite holiday characters, attendees will be treated to lunch!
Before You Register, a Few Reminders
- Please register the names and ages of ALL children you are bringing
- Any biological children in your home (who are not in DFS care) are welcome to attend the Angel Tree Celebration and enjoy the games, activities and food; they will not be eligible for gifts.

Sing the Changes! Foster Change Provides Support, Resources to Caregivers
Founded in 2016, Foster Change is a local non-profit committed to empowering foster, adoptive and kinship families and they want you to get involved. Foster Change is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at their offices at 4344 W. Cheyenne Rd. (North Las Vegas).

With the holiday season upon us, holiday gatherings are sure to be plentiful. As caregivers make holiday plans for the whole family, we share an important reminder from foster parent Mike Pochowski that children in care are also a part of the family: "Where you go, I go."

Forever Families Celebrated on National Adoption Day
More than 55 children in DFS care were adopted on Thursday, Nov. 17 as part of DFS's annual National Adoption Day celebration. All told, 38 families finalized adoptions that day.
National Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families.

On the Road with QPI Nevada
A contingent of caregivers, community partners and DFS staff recently embarked upon Cleveland for the annual QPI National Conference. They were joined by QPI practitioners from across the country to discuss and share best practices in providing the best care for children in foster care.

Thanks to dedicated readers like you, The Caregiver Courier is enjoying its most successful year yet. Readership and engagement has nearly doubled and it is because you have consistently provided us with feedback that tells us what you want to read in this newsletter.
Who We Are
The Courier is a collaborative effort of the QPI Communications Workgroup, a team comprised of DFS staff, child welfare professionals from local agencies and organizations as well as foster parents just like you. Each month, this team develops and delivers content to a diverse audience of readers who have a vested interest in the lives of Clark County children. In addition, this workgroup also develops communications plans and solutions for the other QPI workgroups. While those workgroups address the issues important to you, we make sure their message is delivered.
What the Readers Want
This year, The Courier has seen a spike in interest and feedback from our readers. Your input drives the content. We strive monthly to provide information that is informative, timely and entertaining. Our feedback has shown us our readers enjoy reading personal stories about fellow caregivers and child welfare professionals.

What is QPI?
Making sure every child living in foster care is cared for by a caregiver (foster, relative, fictive and/or adoptive) who provides skilled, nurturing parenting while helping the child maintain connections to his or her family.
