Delivery News
REMINDER: Order deadline is Noon the day before we deliver:
We have good and bad news this week. Lets start with the good.
  • Egg production has jumped dramatically. I have added online the option to order 4 dozen eggs for $24. That will save you $4 and will be available as long as the hens keep up the good work.
  • We also have succeeded in our efforts that started a couple years ago to ramp up our pork production to match our production on other items like milk, eggs, and beef. Now we have an ample supply of pork, even enough that I can now offer a bulk box of pork described below.
Pastured Pork Assortment - $180 - A 30 pound box of pork containing:
    10 lbs sausage
    4 lbs ground pork
    6 lbs pork chops
    3 lbs rib rack
    2 lbs bacon
    5 lbs pork roast
  • Lots of fish are now posted online, including the new addition of Smoked Salmon and Peppered Smoked Salmon.
  • Now, for the somewhat bad news. It's been since mid-2012 since we last raised the price of milk. Unfortunately the time has come to do so again. We strive to be very consistent in our pricing and not increase prices on a whim, so rest assured this came after careful consideration. As with everything, costs inch upward over time and our production costs are no different. Both because of normal economic inflation, and because we are constantly striving to produce a better product. Over the last 5 years we have made several improvements that have been beneficial to the quality and availability of our milk. Those improvements include:
    • A new bottle filling machine
    • A fodder growing facility so the cows can have green grass year around
    • Planting and improving of several grass fields for grazing and hay making.
    • Premiums paid to local grain farmers to insure the availability of non-GMO feed
    • Various improvements to facilities to enhance cow comfort and health.
It is definitely not our objective to try to squeeze every nickel out of our loyal customers. We believe in the Henry Ford mantra that says a "man should see how much he can give for a dollar, instead of how little."  We want to constantly be pushing the boundaries of the perfect glass of milk, for your pet of course. Sometimes there must be a price increase so that we can maintain the sustainability of our farm and continue to raise the happiest cows around. On a side note, upon some research you will find that our price for raw milk is still equal to or less than the other raw milk providers in the Atlanta area.

On the Farm

New Chicks:

Another group of Broilers have been started in the brooder. It is our plan for this to be the beginning of a trend this year. We are preparing to be able to grow several batches of broilers in succession throughout the summer and into the fall. We have our fingers crossed that the new poultry processor that we will be working with in Alabama will be able to get up and running as he has planned. Of course, there will be growing pains and hiccups in the system as we get the process developed and refined. However, in the end a good supply of clean chicken will be worth the effort. If you have been waiting on this supply of chicken, like I know many of you have, the wait is almost over.
