Delivery News
REMINDER: Order deadline is Noon the day before we deliver:
Chickens: We processed more broiler chickens this weekend. They have been posted online, as well as chicken feet, liver, necks, and hearts. Order quickly, as they will move fast.
The birds were a little bigger than the last batch. We attribute that to being a little older and having more rain the past few weeks made for better growout conditions. Also, we were comparing the black feathered freedom rangers (first batch) with the red feathered freedom rangers (this batch). The red feathered variety seems more suited to our conditions and was more able to tolerate the heat.
Beef: There is plenty of beef posted online. The Organ/Ground Beef blend is sold out, but I will be getting more back from the processor next week.
Pork: I will be hauling more pork to the processor today. We still have sausage online, but we are out of most other pork cuts. That will change next week.

On the Farm
Broiler Chicken defeathered.
Broilers are in the freezer:
Last week I included a picture of the broilers eating from the top of a 5 gallon bucket. I said I wanted to wait until I saw them without the feathers to fully evaluate them.  Well, here they are minus the feathers and they still look just as good. Most of this batch dressed out around 4.5 lbs, and they are nice full muscled chickens. They were also very active and foraged on the pasture well even at their mature weight. We were happy with them, and I think you will be too. Enjoy.
I decided to spare you the "small scale chicken processing in Georgia is frustrating" rant. If for some reason you would like to read about those frustrations check out our email from a few weeks ago. The struggle is real.

I will be posting pictures of our endeavors on the farm.  Be sure to check out:  www.facebook.com/carltonfarm  or on our new instagram account @carltonfarm

Thanks for your continued support. At Carlton Farms we are proud to be your farmer.
