Vendor News

Good Life Farms will be at the Market with an abundant supply of heirloom tomatoes this week. They are in space number 16.

Due to a family reunion, The Walking Waffle Company will be selling only their bags of six waffles this week. They will be back in full force on the 21st.

We found out this week that the Trail Mix peanut butter from Big Dipper is wonderfully good on raisin toast.

We also found that the Sweet Orange Oblivion Pepper Sauce from Captain Jim's Sauces goes great with just about anything you cook from scrambled eggs to hamburgers.

The Spinach Ball Co. has just introduced an all-natural line of spinach balls. You can try them at their booth, space number 47.

Last Week's Market

We were so pleased with the participation of Chipotle Mexican Grill at last week's Market. Maria Tremont, Chipotle marketing specialist, distributed nearly $3000 in Chipotle $5 and $10 wooden coin coupons during the space of less than an hour. Each coin could be redeemed at our Vendors for their wonderful products. Chipotle has undertaken this promotion to demonstrate their corporate commitment to locally grown, fresh and wholesome food.

Maria will be back with us two more Saturday's this summer, July 28th and August 11. She will have approximately $3000 in Market coupons to give away on those days. So if you came to the Market too late to get your Chipotle wooden coin last Saturday you are not out of luck.

Chipotle will also be cosponsoring with us the presentation of the video, What's On Your Plate, at the Studio Theater on August 9th. More details to follow.

The Market Committee greatly appreciates Chipotle choosing CFM to partner with us for these exciting events. Their support benefits our Vendors, our guests and the community as a whole. Next time you are in a Chipotle for lunch or dinner please tell the manager how much you appreciate their community support.

Emergency Plan

After the tragedy at last summer's Indiana State Fair, emergency preparedness for outdoor public events is on the minds of most people. In fact, the Carmel Farmers Market has had a written emergency plan for the past four years. That plan is updated every year and underwent a major revision for last season because we moved to the new space at the Palladium.

Each of the walkie-talkies that the Market Volunteers use has the capability of receiving severe weather bulletins from the National Weather Service. In addition, when there is a possibility of severe weather we check by telephone with the Carmel 911 Center for weather updates.

In the event of a severe weather emergency we will call for evacuation of the Market grounds over our PA system. Plus, we will, depending on the severity of the emergency, sound an air horn. When you hear that sound you should evacuate as quickly as possible to the shelter of the Tarkington parking garage. That is our designated sheltering-in-place spot.

This Week At the Market

Music in the Carmel Rotary Amphitheater this week will be provided by J.T. Express. They have been pleasing audiences in Indiana for the last fifteen years with their easy listening, jazz and gospel music.

Chef Amy Von Eiff, from our Vendor, A Cut Above Catering, will be presenting "Summer Grilling Sauces" in the KitchenWright demonstration kitchen at 9 and 10. Make sure to visit their booth and the Cut Above website.
