Welcome to the 2016 Carmel Farmers Market

The eighteenth season of the Carmel Farmers Market starts Saturday, May 7th at Center Green. The Market season runs May through September, 8:00 - 11:30 am each and every Saturday. So come join your friends, neighbors, and our great vendors for the freshest produce and food in Central Indiana.

The Market is open rain or shine.

2016 Market Vendor Changes

With the Market opening this Saturday, we wanted to provide you with a rundown on the new vendors who will be with us and a note of farewell to some of the vendors who will not be returning this summer.

Here are the new vendors you will see, along with their product and space numbers:

  • Aahaa Chai - Owned by Raji Muthukrishan and located in space 6, this vendor brings an assortment of chai teas to the Market.  This is Raji's first venture into farmers markets.
  • PB no J - We now have gourmet peanut butters back at the Market for the first time in three years.  The three partners in the company are students at IU Bloomington and natives of Zionsville.  They are located in space 7.
  • BobbiQ - Bobbi Kaufman has been making homemade noodles and barbecue sauce for many years.  Bobbi and her husband live on a farm near Atlanta.  Some of you may be familiar with Bobbi and Ralph from having their noodles at the Indiana Artisan or Atlanta Earth Festivals. Bobbi and Ralph are located in space 10.
  • Ristorante Roma - Now you will be able to purchase, both frozen and for at-the-Market consumption, some of the finest dishes from Carmel's own Ristorante Roma.  Located in space 16, don't pass these mouth-watering pasta dishes.
  • Hayden Family Farm - Matt Hayden and his family sustainably grow a rare breed of pork known as Mangalitsa.  This is an old-world heritage breed renowned for its rich, buttery fat and flavorful meat.  Matt will be located in space 36.
  • Southern Indiana Microgreens - David Rose brings to us from Columbus a varied assortment of arguably, the finest microgreens grown in Indiana.  David is an expert on the growing and culinary uses of microgreens.  You will find his products to be extremely fresh and tasteful.  He is located in space 39.
  • My Sugar Pie - Located in Zionsville, My Sugar Pie is the provider of pies to some of the finest white tablecloth restaurants in central Indiana.  Kelly Maucere, owner of My Sugar Pie, will be on hand at the Market to tell you the story of her unique business and guide you in your pie selection for Mother's Day.  Kelly is in space 45.
  • Harker Family Farm - Assigned right next door in space 46, Harker Family Farm brings to us an assortment of fruits and vegetables of the highest quality.  They are located near Hope, fairly close to their friends, the Nading's.
  • WildFlower Farm - This farm brings to us a plethora of beautiful plants for your yard. They are located outside Zionsville.  Broch Martindale has a wealth of knowledge about plants and will be happy to talk with you about your landscaping needs.  Visit with him in space 47.
  • Worms@Work - This is one of the most unusual, and most interesting vendors we have ever had at the Market.  Worms@Work is just that - worms making soil amendments for the benefit of your indoor and outdoor plants and your vegetable gardens.  From their booth in space 50 you will be able to hear the benefits of using worm castings, worm tea, and other organic worm products.  Don't fail to miss this fascinating space.
  • Deer Creek Farm - Sarah Paulson brings to us some very nice cut flower bouquets that can be custom arranged for you in space 54.
  • Revival Food Company - Rachel Kiesling brings to us her almond butter.  Stop by and see her in space 56.
  • Hickory Valley Farms - Bill Taylor and his family produce shagbark hickory syrup from their farm outside of Avon.  When we sampled their product at the annual vendor selection night we found the syrup to be the best shagbark hickory that any of us have tasted.  It's mild smoky flavor is just right for all your gourmet cooking needs.  The Taylor's are located in space 58.
We are sad to note that some of the vendors that may have been your favorites are not returning this year.  Among those are:
  • Barbara Carter, The Salsa Queen - After eleven years of making her fresh salsa each week, she decided over the winter to retire.  Barbara is a registered nurse by profession.  When she retired from that career in December of 2014 she began to think about also getting her summers back.  She has not had a summer for the eleven years she has been making up to thirty gallons of salsa a week to supply the Market.  In her old spot is BobbiQ.  Barbara has been a great vendor and we wish her pleasant summers.
  • Dan Forrester - We will miss Dan also.  The owner of Middlefork Produce, outside of Columbus, brought us some of the finest vegetables at the Market.  Dan lost his helper and found that he simply could not find another person who could help with the booth each and every week. Moving in to Dan's space will be Norman Mullet Farms.  They have been selling their vegetables out of space 16 for the past few years.  Now that they are in a larger space they will be bringing a line of Amish baked goods including Angel Food cake, personal size fruit pies, cinnamon rolls, and quite possibly, fried pies. And, by the way, we send our congratulations to the Mullets - on April 25 Laura Mullet gave birth to a baby girl named Ruth.  All are doing okay and Laura will be back at the Market in early June.
  • Bugle Valley Elk - After the passing year before last of Gene Clodfelter's wife, Gene got remarried.  This has led to him taking more time off and, thus, he has not had the production of elk to maintain enough inventory to do the Market.
  • Fassnacht Family Farm - Like our supply of elk, we are sorry to lose our supplier of beefalo.  We know many of you have found a taste for this high protein meat.  Jennifer and Les Fassnacht were sad to not be continuing at the Market.  However, after the birth of their second child they found it necessary to take a break from Saturday morning commitments for awhile.
  • The Food Florist - Trisha and her husband, Marty, have moved to New York where Marty has a new job.  We will miss both Trish and Marty along with Trish's wonderful pies and casseroles.

We sincerely apologize for the problems we are having with our website.  The site has been down for much of the past few weeks.  At this time we are working on engaging another site development company and hope to have the problems with the site eliminated within the next two weeks.  Until we get the site back in order, please rely on our Facebook page.

Week 1 Vendor News

Mission Coffee Company
We are ready to go with fresh-brewed gourmet coffee and nitro cold-brew coffee.  Nitro coffee is cold brewed for two days, then triple filtered into kegs where it is pressurized with nitrogen and carbon dioxide.  It is served over ice with a really cool bubble cascade.  We will also have Ghirardelli gourmet hot chocolate on Saturday.  We have other big surprises coming later in the season!

One of a Kind Jams & Jellies
I am looking forward to another summer at the Carmel Farmers Market!  This week I will have two new additions: Rhubarb Jam and Cold Brew Coffee with Kahlua.  I also have some without the Kahlua.  Stop by for a taste!

Mallow Run Winery
This summer, Mallow Run is excited to feature a selection of their Indiana-produced, award-winning wines, as well as a few new and exciting releases!  Stop by and pick up a can or four-pack of Hard Cider and Hopped Hard Cider.  Both are made from cider apples grown by the southside's Adrian Orchards, with our Hopped Cider featuring Centennial and Citra hops for a great floral and citrus aroma, similar to a light IPA.  Both are great gluten free options for your summer adventures!

Mallow Run is also the first Indiana Winery to produce a CANNED wine!  Indiana's Signature Grape, Traminette, boldly goes where no glass bottle has gone before.  Take "100" to the track, the lake, and anywhere that calls for delicious Indiana wines.  Grab this limited release before it RACES away!

Circle City Sweets
New this season!!!  Danish Dough Cinnamon Rolls - the most amazing cinnamon rolls you can imagine! 4 packs available for $12.50.  Of course, we'll still have the best croissants in the area with us!

Brotgarten
We are introducing our Jalapeno-Cheese Bread to the Carmel Farmers Market this week.  This is a bread which we developed during the winter months and has already been introduced at winter markets we attended.  We got very positive feedback from our customers and are looking forward to what our summer market customers have to say.  We will have sample bites available and are looking forward to another great Carmel Farmers Market season!

Blue Yonder Organic Farm
Asparagus, eggs, spring salad mix, and whole chickens are on sale this week at the Market! Blue Yonder Organic Farm offers certified organic poultry, vegetables, eggs, and more all grown the way nature intended.  Mention this and receive one free organic plant start with any purchase, while supplies last.

Tulip Tree Creamery
We will celebrate our second anniversary of our first sale on June 11th!  This will be our third year doing the Carmel Farmers Market!  We are very excited to be back.  Cheese curds and Fresh Mozzarella coming soon!  Products we are taking to the Market this week include: Cultured Butter, Dutchman's Breeches, Foxglove, Fromage Blanc, Nettle, Snapdragon, and Tiger Lily.

Daily Farms
We are a family owned and operated produce, beef, poultry, and row crop farm.  Our family has been growing produce for over 20 years!  We have many products in our high tunnels that allow us to provide you with vegetables 3-4 weeks early!  Products out of the tunnels will include tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, kale, radishes, beets, and more!  This Saturday's products will also include fresh rhubarb and fresh asparagus!

New products from our family include prepared savory meals and Daily Farms Salsa (available in Mild, Medium, and Hot).  Some of our other highlight products for the season are: tomatoes, sweet corn, farm fresh all-natural eggs, squash (zucchini, zephyr, summer), green beans, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, ground beef, head and leaf lettuce, sweet and hot peppers, and eggplant.

We have over 500 laying hens that provide us with eggs to make our famous Egg Scrambles at the Market!  YOU pick the ingredients, WE scramble the eggs in!

Our Smoothie Station will be in full swing this season as well!  YOU choose the fruits, WE blend them for you!  You can choose from: strawberries, mangoes, peaches, bananas, and blueberries.

We have missed all of our customers and are looking forward to seeing everyone!!

Xchocol'Art
We are excited for a new summer season of fantastic food and community at the Carmel Farmers Market!  We start the season with a great variety of gifts for Mom!  All fresh, ready and wrapped to impress the most beautiful woman in your world, Mom!  Our chocolate biz is a family affair - come out and say "hello" again - plenty of delicious sample bites will be available.
WildFlower Farms
We will have mint julep herbs for sale this week - perfect for all those Derby cocktails!  We will also have Mint Julep Hostas for sale - a great gift for your Derby party host/hostess.

We are very excited to be a new vendor at the Carmel Farmers Market.  However, the spring has been unseasonably cool and rainy.  We at WildFlower Farms will not sell plants before they are ready so you get more than just a pot of dirt.  This means our selection may be limited now but is sure to pick up the closer to the warm weather and summer we get. Please stop by and introduce yourselves to us, we look forward to meeting you all.  And please make us a regular stop on your Farmers Market Saturdays as the selections will be changing weekly depending on what is big and showy!

Shamrock Farms Mushrooms
Will be in Booth 37 this week.

Phelps Family Farm
Avoid the crowded restaurants this weekend and celebrate Mom by grilling for her.  Whether she likes steaks, porkburgers, or brats - Phelps Family Farm has free-range, pasture-raised pork, beef, and eggs. Check 'em out!

Weather Policy

Early each season we find it necessary to remind you, our visitors, and our Vendors that we are open every Saturday, come rain or shine.  The only time we are not open is if lightning is within ten miles of the Market grounds.  If lightning comes close during the Market we will ask for all visitors to leave the Market and head for their cars immediately.  Fortunately we have only had to do that on a couple of occasions in the past.  If it is only raining with no lightning we will be open - just grab your rain coat or umbrella and join us.  Our Vendors depend on us to provide them space to interact with you and sell their produce and other goods that they have worked so hard to prepare.
