What's Happening at Market

H appy Wednesday, everybody!

Here comes the heat! It's going to be a sunny and warm day at Market, and we are looking forward to it!

Chef Brendan Cox from Oakleaf is at the Market almost every week stocking up on produce and planning their menu, and today he will joining us in the Market gazebo for a sampling!

He will be serving samples of a chilled cucumber and buttermilk soup! Stop by for a refreshing taste!

It might feel like summer today, but it looks a lot like spring at Market. Carrots, beets, green garlic, green onions, kohlrabi, fennel, sugar snaps, new potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower are hot items this week! You'll also find a few summer favorites like cucumbers and summer squash!

In other news we welcome new Wednesday vendor Orby Dare Orchard! They will be at Market today with freshly extracted honey! Stop by to meet Shelley and learn more about their business.

See you from 3-6pm today!

Happy Shopping!
Erin Jobe, Market Manager

Lots of cheeses to sample and buy for Memorial Day picnics or cook outs. We have a little  Burrata  this Wednesday! This is a pouch of our golden and tender mozzarella that we stretch in hot water, fill with a mix of shredded mozzarella and cream, and seal at the top. Set this out to warm to room temperature and serve with crusty bread as an appetizer for one or two people.

We will also have our  Fresh Mozzarella in half pound balls to go with greenhouse tomatoes in a Caprese salad or a pizza.   Make a great cheese board with our other cheeses, including 7 1/2 month old Calvander which is similar to an Asiago, ripe Carolina Moon, semi-ripe New Moon, Smoked Mozzarella, SmokedFarmers, and Dairyland Farmers. Add our Pheta to green or pasta salads.

Our  Hickory Grove is mild but savory, and a great melting cheese. It's great for a cheeseburger with our flavorful ground beef.

Our sausage include  Breakfast Country Sausage in bulk,  Sage and Maple Breakfast in links,  Mild Italian, Hot Italian, Polish, and Bratwurst. We include the hams in them for extra flavor. We'll also have  bacon, ground pork, and popular Spare Ribs.

Everything we sell comes from our farm where we tend to the pastures, the young calves, the adult cows, and the whey fed pigs.

Non-GMO Pastured Poultry and Pork

Here comes the summer weather.  We are thankful for the rain but looking forward to dry weather for a little while. Homestead Harvest Farm will be at the Market with great tasting eggs from our free ranging chickens and ducks and wonderful meat from our chickens, ducks, and pigs. We had hoped for a new supply of ground pork and sausage but that seems to be coming next week. The processor didn't get finished in time for us to pick it up.

See you at the Market!

Growers & Cooks
Growers & Cooks will be at Market today!

We make fresh stock for home cooks. We're on a mission to support responsible growers and bring real stock back into your kitchen. We've been asked a lot lately about whether our products are bone broths. We call them stock, but our methods are similar to those who use the term bone broth. Our pastured bone stocks contain minerals and gelatin from long, gentle simmering, which is something that is highly valued by those on Whole30 or paleo diets or by those using these soothing stocks as remedy. Come by and give them a try!
