Important: Drop-Off/Pick-Up Guidelines

Drop Off and Pick Up are challenging traffic times at Carver. Please study the map and follow our traffic patterns. It makes all the difference for student safety.

Some courtesy tips:
  • Drive slowly and watch for kids on bikes, skateboards, walking and talking.
  • If you see caution cones DO NOT DRIVE AROUND THEM. Use the entrances at the far end of the parking lot, in front of the soccer field.
  • DO NOT idle your car. Park in a parking spot and turn off the engine. "Environmental Justice" is a central theme at Carver and we take our energy saving seriously. We ask that you continue in this way.
  • Park in the parking spots or in the line-up along the front of the school and fields. DO NOT park or idle in the drive ways. It impedes the traffic flow.
  • The small parking in front of the school is for STAFF and handicapped parking only. During pick up and drop off DO NOT drive into that area. It exacerbates the flow of traffic.
Thank you for observing these rules.

Message from the Principal: What to Expect the First Day

wolcome_back_to_school.jpg
Summer Break is coming rapidly to a close. The halls and classrooms, the windows and floors are starting to sparkle from a deep summer cleaning. Our whole staff met for three days August 23, 24 and 25 for our annual Summer Institute, our time to plan and prepare for the year.

Carver is bigger than ever, welcoming 345 students for the 2016-2017 school year. Nearly 100 of these students will be incoming freshmen and transfer students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

When students arrive on Thursday morning before 8:30 a.m., they will be greeted by student council members with a warm welcome, healthy snacks, and a walk to their advisory classroom. Advisors will welcome the classes and have fresh class schedules for everyone.

Throughout the year we reverently observe important moments in our students lives and school experience. The Opening Day Assembly is our first celebration. At 8:45 a.m. we ring in the school year-an exciting moment for the new freshman who are welcomed by the entire school community. Teachers introduce themselves. Our student body president addresses the school. The culmination of the assembly is the Senior Rose Ceremony, a long standing Waldorf tradition around the globe. Each senior is introduced and offered a rose, symbolizing the culmination of their 12 year school journey and the coming commencement of their adult lives at the June Graduation.

We are excited for a year filled with the joy of learning and being together as the Carver Community.

Remember: School starts Thursday, September 1 at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast is free for every student and is offered from 8 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.

Warmly,
Allegra Alessandri, Principal
