Finals Bell Schedule Information   
Please note that Carver does not have minimum days for FINALS week -- only a half-day on Friday, Jan. 27. During finals, lunch will be at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Student will be on campus all day. Dismissal on Friday, Jan. 27 is 12:50 p.m. This information is available on the school website HERE.
Practice Starts Wednesday for Carver Co-Ed Volleyball 
Join the Carver Phoenix Volleyball team! Intramural Volleyball starts this Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 3:30 p.m. -- come out ready to play. Practices happen Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30  p.m to 5 p.m. in the Carver gym. Games start the January 31. Carver will play the other small high schools-Science and Engineering, New Tech, The Met and Health Professions. Contact coach Mr. Matt Mossman for more information or to sign up: [email protected].
Open Enrollment Under Way
It's Enrollment Season throughout the Sacramento Unified School District. If your younger siblings or friends intend to enroll at Carver, please fill out Carver enrollment paperwork and submit it before January 27, 2017. You can also complete part of the enrollment through the district's open enrollment process (see link below).  See the attached letter. If you are already enrolled at Carver, you will be re-enrolled automatically for 2017-2018 (download link below).

Free Glaciology and Marine Programs for Young Women  
Inspiring Girls Expeditions is accepting applications through January 31, 2017 for free summer science and wilderness expeditions in Alaska and Washington for girls ages 16 to 17. The three Inspiring Girls trips of 2017 will include Girls on Ice Alaska, Girls On Ice Cascades and Girls in Icy Fjords. They are operated through IARC and the UAF College of Natural Science & Mathematics. Visit the Inspiring Girls website for more information, and to learn about the application process.

Biosphere 2 Summer Science Academy  
The University of Arizona is accepting applications for its 2017 Biosphere 2 Summer Science Academy! High school students will be hosted (those entering 9th- 12th grades in the fall of 2017), from July 16th -22nd, 2017. The session includes hands on, inquiry-based science research with students working in teams. Bank of America Charitable Foundation's Student Leaders Program 
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation's Student LeadersĀ® Program is accepting applications for the 2017 Student LeadersĀ® program. The program helps students gain a greater understanding of how nonprofits create impact in the community and helps develop them as the next generation of community leaders through two components:
  •  A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization selected by the bank.
  • The week-long, all-expense paid Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. from July 9-14, 2017.
Students can apply for the program by going to www.bankofamerica.com/studentleaders. Please note the application deadline is January 27, 2017. There will be no deadline extensions.
Carver is Collecting Mint Tins!
Carver is collecting Mint Tins-like Altoid tins, those little metal cute boxes you wish you had other uses for -- well now you do! Send your Altoid tins, or any other kind of mint tin, to the office.
