Are You a Match?
Katie Colvin

From a Carver/Waldorf family:

... we are sending out a plea for help to our friends, family, and this community. Katie needs a bone marrow transplant to regain her health. We are not yet certain that her sister Lexi will be a suitable DNA match, so we are appealing to outside donors. The more people that are willing to be part of the donor match registry, the better Katie's chances. The process is actually quite simple. It involves a cheek swab and about 10 minutes of your time (paperwork!) at any BloodSource lab. You can call them directly at 866.822.5663, or go online and find the nearest donation center. If there's not a BloodSource lab near you, any blood donation center nationwide will link you to the national bone marrow registry - www.bethematch.org. And even if you aren't a match for Katie, once you are in the registry, you may end up being a match for someone else in great need.

Please share this message - the farther it spreads, the greater our hope!
GIVING TUESDAY: What Can You Give?
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

If you haven't already participated in Carver's annual giving drive, please consider doing so on Giving Tuesday.

Every school year the GWC Guild asks families to make a tax-deductible donation to help support specialty programs such as main lesson, drama, gardening, art and music. This funding also provides classroom and site improvements.

Our goal is to have 100% of our families participate, but we realize that families in our community have different financial situations. If the suggested donation amount of $125 per student, per year does not work for you, give what you can.

Annual Giving Drive donation checks need to be made out to GWC Guild and can be dropped off in the school's main office or you may donate by using the link below.

Bring the Heat: Enter the Chili Cook-Off!
The GWC Parent Guild is hosting a family-friendly Chili Cook-Off FUNraiser 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9!

Tickets go on sale NEXT WEEK! Presale tickets will cost $5/person or $20/family if purchased prior to the events (prices will be higher at the door). Drinks and dessert will also be available to purchase, as well as student art and handcrafts by local artisans. Don't miss the class basket raffle!
