Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas
Food Donations at a Record Low.  We Need Your Help!

At Catholic Charities, we are so blessed by the generosity of our donors, parishes, schools,
volunteers and community partners who donate food items.

Sadly, the demand for food assistance increased 26% from last year.
Last month, our food donations were at an all-time low, yet our need is at an all-time high.

How You Can Help
  • Host a food drive. Involve your church group, community organization or employer.
  • Bring food donations to our pantries. See a list of our Emergency Assistance Centers.
  • Donate money. Financial gifts can always be used to purchase any food pantry items needed.

We're Having a Ball! A Snow Ball.

Plans are underway for our 42nd Annual Snow Ball--Kansas City's largest philanthropic
gala.

This year's event will be held on  Saturday, January 16 th  at the Sheraton Crown Center Exhibition Hall .  Snow Ball is our organization's largest fundraiser .  We count on its success to help us assist a growing number of individuals and families throughout our 21 county service area who are struggling to put food on the table or pay their rent.  Most of all, funds from Snow Ball help us give the gift of hope to our neighbors during their time of greatest need.

It is designed to help domestic violence and se xual assault survivors who are recipients of Temporary Assista nce for Needy Fam ilies   (TANF), as well as families below 100 percent of federal poverty guidelin es living in rural areas with limited resources.

Some of the services provided include safety planning, healthy relationship education, responsible parenting and financial education.
"Relationships KAN! is about promoting safety, restoring self-worth and empowering victims to become survivors," says Christina Sell, Project Director.

Volunteers Bring Smiles to Seniors
HopeHero
Our Friendly Visitors program pairs compassionate volunteers with senior citizens who live alone and need someone to visit, call, or lend a helping hand. Friendly Visitor volunteers enjoy one-on-one relationships and helping clients renew their sense of personal worth.

During the last year alone, our volunteers helped brighten the day of these seniors by dedicating nearly 4,000 hours of service.
