2016 has been a crazy, busy year and we are now entering into an even busier time.
As we are working on replacing the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Director, the chamber staff is putting the final touches on the golf tournament scheduled for Friday, August 26 at Hillcrest Golf & Country Club.
The Yankton Community Leadership Program kicks off on Thursday, September 8with 13 students.  The 5-week program consists of tours, speaker and panel discussions on all things relating to the Yankton Community.   The class will get to know each other, discuss the expectations, an overview of the following weeks agenda and a tour on the first day.  Week two covers discussions on education, local government.  Week three will showcase industry overviews from Agriculture, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Tourism and Finance.  The final week will involve conversations on housing, workforce, Entrepreneurs, community improvements and non-profits.

Free Activity Passes!
The Yankton School District is offering Free Lifetime Activity Passes to all Yankton School District residents who are 65 years and older.  The Lifetime Activity Pass allows for free admission into all Yankton School District Regular Season Activities. 
The Lifetime Activity Pass can be obtained at the Yankton School District Administration Building where the age and residence of the individual will be verified with an I.D. such as a Driver's License.
We welcome you to come out and pick-up your Free Lifetime Activity Pass.  We hope to see you at our school activities, which includes all of our Fine Arts events!
There Is No Place Like Home
The community was invited to participate in an online survey last year regarding the Crane Youngworth Field and Stadium.  The results were 64% in favor of remaining at Crane Youngworth - 22% move to Williams Filed and 14% with no preference.  There were a total of 1508 responses.
The Yankton School Board agreed with the community and voted 5-0 at the June 13, 2016 School Board Meeting to remain at Crane Youngworth Field.

National Park Service Celebrates 100th Birthday in Riverside Park!
Join the National Park Service's 100th birthday celebration at Yankton's Riverside Park Amphitheater on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Enjoy music, dancing, river art, hands-on activities, appearances by National Park Service rangers and junior rangers and a special guest appearance and speech by Theodore Roosevelt!  Click here for more information


YSD Receives Grant
Yankton School District received a 2016 SD Workforce Education Grant Award.  The grant expands the internship program with local businesses, develops concurrent credit programs with Mitchell Technical Institute (MTI) in transportation, drafting, welding, and Information Technology (IT) and upgrades equipment in the Construction program and Technology, Machines & Society course.


In collaboration with American Express, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to become a Neighborhood Champion for Small Business Saturday. Celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday helps small business owners with their most pressing need - getting more customers. As a Neighborhood Champion, you can help raise awareness and support for local small businesses to support your community on the day.

Dear Carmen,
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed meeting you yesterday at the Chamber's luncheon to welcome new educators.  I so appreciated the lovely meal and chance to connect with the community.  My thanks to you and the other chamber staff and members for such a warm welcome.  I look forward to getting together soon.

Thank you for your support of the World Archery South Dakota Excursion!  The trip was a complete success.  It was fun to showcase our wonderful state, but especially Yankton.  Thank you for golfing on both days and being a wonderful advocate for archery.
