Celebrate Independence Day at the 4th of July Spectacular

Gather your family and friends to join the City of Yorba Linda as we light up the summer sky at the annual 4th of July Spectacular! One of Yorba Linda's most beloved traditions, the event will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Veterans Park (4756 Valley View Avenue) and Yorba Linda Middle School (4777 Casa Loma Avenue). The entertainment and activities will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the "Fireworks Spectacular" will begin at 9:00 p.m. Event highlights include:

Live music by Eric Sage and his band;
Interactive stage activities and a kids' scavenger hunt;
A Kids' Zone featuring free games and activities ($5 wristband available for purchase for unlimited access to inflatable games);
A variety of food and vendor booths hosted by local non-profit organizations;
A ceremony featuring a performance of the National Anthem and "God Bless America" by 8 year-old Yorba Linda resident Madison Baez; and
A fantastic fireworks show!

City Offices Closed in Observance of Independence Day

In observance of Independence Day, all City offices, including the Library, Police Services Substation, and all Parks & Recreation facilities, will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. City offices will reopen to regular business hours on Thursday, July 5.

Stay Safe this July 4th by Leaving Fireworks to the Pros

This 4th of July, Yorba Linda Police Services and the City of Yorba Linda remind residents that like most Orange County cities, Yorba Linda's Municipal Code prohibits the possession or discharge of fireworks within City limits. For your safety, leave the fireworks to the professionals and enjoy a City-sponsored fireworks show, like Yorba Linda's 4th of July Spectacular .

Pet Safety Tips for 4th of July

Although the 4th of July is a favorite holiday for many people, each year animal shelters experience a large influx of lost animals around the holiday due to the extreme stress many cats and dogs experience due to the loud sounds caused by fireworks. Orange County Animal Care and the City of Yorba Linda encourage residents to remember these safety tips to ensure the furry members of the family are well cared for this 4th of July:

DO get in a workout. Take your pet for a walk to tire them out before the festivities begin;
DO make sure your pet has current identification, and, ideally, a microchip in case your pet loses its collar during an escape;
DO resist the urge to bring your pet to noisy parties or fireworks shows. Your pet will be much happier and safer in the comfort of your home;
DO leave the television or radio on when you leave your pet at home to help drown out the sound of nearby fireworks;
DO secure your yard to prevent escapes, or consider bringing your pet indoors for the evening; and
DO NOT leave your pet in the car while enjoying a fireworks show.

Republic Services Adjusts Refuse & Recycling Service Schedule

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Republic Services will not conduct regularly scheduled refuse and recycling collection service. Those with a weekly collection day of Wednesday or later will have their service delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

In addition, this 4th of July, Republic Services reminds you "When in doubt, throw it out," while you are enjoying backyard barbecues and other events. Overly soiled or greasy plates and other disposables cannot be recycled and can even contaminate an entire batch of recyclable items.
