Neighborhood Celebration with Shopping and Art Brighten the Holiday Season
Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and Queens Borough President-elect Melinda Katz opened the event, recognizing the vibrancy of the neighborhood and unique sense of pride in the community. LIC Partnership President Liz Lusskin joined Josh Schneps of the LIC Flea and Eric Benaim of Modern Spaces to thank attendees and all who participated in the event including Plaxall for providing the space, Kenny Greenberg, Jesse Winter and The Center For Holographic Arts for providing the art installations, Sage Music for the live Jazz and GOWEX for their support.
The LIC Flea & Food Holiday Market continues this weekend December 14-15 and next weekend December 21-22. The Holiday Market is located at 5-25 46th Avenue. Hours are 11 AM - 6 PM Saturday and Sunday. 51st Bakery & Cafe is Now Open
Chef Faye Hess, known for her blog fayefood.com, and her husband, Jonathan Stirling, recently opened a bakery and cafe located at 5-33 51st Avenue. The cafe features baked goods, lunchtime sandwiches and coffee. Current store hours are 7:30 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and 8 AM to noon on Saturday and Sunday. LIC Post visited the bakery and cafe this week.

City Harvest has designated Duane Reade Stores across NYC as drop-off locations for donated items. To donate in LIC, bring canned goods to the Duane Reade at 47-02 5th Street. |
