THE REVIVAL: WOMEN AND THE WORD

"Eloquently dives into deep conversations on gender expression, sexuality, poetry, history, relationships, the significance of literacy in the Black community..."
    - Tagg Magazine

THE REVIVAL: WOMEN AND THE WORD chronicles the US tour of a group of Black lesbian poets and musicians, who become present-day stewards of a historical movement to build community among queer women of color. Their journey to strengthen community is enriched by insightful interviews with leading Black feminist thinkers including Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Nikki Finney, and Alexis Deveaux. As the group tours the country, the film reveals their aspirations and triumphs, as well as the unique identity challenges they face encompassing gender, race, and sexuality. This is a rarely seen look into a special sisterhood - one where marginalized voices are both heard and  respected.

INSIDE THE CHINESE CLOSET

"... an up-close look and personal view of how the LGBT community is coping in a country which still holds traditional values very much at its hearts."
    - International Business Times

Andy and Cherry first meet in a nondescript lounge in Shanghai, part of a group of nervous men and women, giggling and scoping each other out. Both Andy and Cherry are gay. But like everyone else, they're here to find a spouse of the opposite sex. This is a "fake-marriage fair," where people seek matrimonial deals that will satisfy social and familial expectations. INSIDE THE CHINESE CLOSE T follows Andy and Cherry as they struggle to balance their personal searches for love and happiness in Shanghai with the pressure from their rural families, who-if they remain single and childless-will suffer the deep humiliation of "losing face." As Andy and Cherry consider marriage, family life, and sacrifice in the name of social mores, INSIDE THE CHINESE CLOSET explores the shifting sands of legal and cultural progress in a changing China.
