Spring Edition April/May 2018

Staging and Interior Decorating

It has been one of the busiest first quarters we have ever had. Between staging and decorating - our clients are taking advantage of the early spring selling season as well as updating and renovating their homes so they can enjoy them to the fullest and boost the value when it comes time to sell. See some examples in the article below of our latest "Staged and Sold" properties - all sold in record time with several selling in the first week after staging!

From paint color selections, to custom window treatments, to bathroom renovations our team must always stay on top of the latest seasonal trends. I recently had the opportunity to attend the Architectural Digest Design Show at the Chelsea Piers in NYC last month -  an annual industry event that showcases the latest trends in home decor from hundreds of respected brands. My take away is that beautiful gold accents have made a comeback in all aspects of home decor -- from lighting to plumbing fixtures to kitchen cabinetry to tile and stone. Today's gold accents offer a fresh take on the shiny, overpowering brass of the 80s and 90s with a more understated, delicate feel that will add a hint of modern luxury to any room. We love these gorgeous accents shown below, especially the oversize glass pendants in this recent Better Homes & Gardens Lighting cover photo.

Whether you're preparing your home to sell or simply need to re-energize your home (and yourself) with fresh accents and colors this spring, we hope our seasonal tips will inspire your creativity to blossom. And don't forget, we're just a phone call away if you need some guidance!

Here's to no more snow and a very happy spring!

RE-ENERGIZE YOUR SPACE  WITH TRENDING COLORS
THAT BOOST THE SPIRIT

We recently discussed springtime styling tips  to wow home buyers, and with the anticipation of warm spring and summer months building, it's also time to say goodbye to winter decor. An easy way to keep your home seasonally up-to-date is to introduce colors that inspire energy and tranquility.

It's no secret that color affects both the atmosphere of a room and overall mood of those inhabiting it.  When focusing on re-energizing a space, some of the best colors to incorporate are shades of purple, blue, and green.

Purple in the Dining Room
Purple is most commonly associated with:
  • Luxury
  • Creativity
  • Vitality
Pantone's Color of the Year, Ultraviolet, is a great accent color to incorporate into a dining space, to bring forth a chic and modern feel when entertaining family and friends.

Blue in the Bedroom
Blue is most commonly associated with:
  • Relaxation
  • Meditation
  • Inner calm
The bedroom should be a space that invokes tranquility and relaxation. Bedding, curtains, or even a patterned accent wall with different shades of blue, are just a few ways to tie hues of this color into the space.

Green in the Family Room
Green is most commonly associated with:
  • Safety
  • Harmony/Calming
  • Nature
Instilling a sense of nature and harmony, green is a great color to incorporate into the family room. Green hues can be brought in through rugs, accent furnishings, and fresh leafy plants, all organized around a neutral colored sectional  with green accent pillows. Or, use a lime green couch as pictured above for a more stylish use of the color.
