Join us next Saturday, March 15th, for a day filled with Irish fun for the whole family.  Plan to come early and stay late.  You won't want to miss the parade, great food and delicious Irish beverages we have waiting for you. If you want to be in the parade, there is still time! 

 

The parade steps off at high noon, so come early and reserve your spots on Main Street or 6th Streets. Then, take some time to explore Downtown because we have so much to offer!

 

Join us to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, the Downtown Racine Way! Below are a few activities you can do before, and after the parade.

  • Indulge in authentic Irish cuisine at Ivanhoe's Pub & Eatery starting at 7 a.m. 
  • Stop at Henry & Wanda's in your kilt by 10AM to be one of the "30 Men in Kilts" that will be showcasing their Irish attire in the parade.
  • Stop by Dewey's Restaurant & Sports Bar and other great hot spots to enjoy some Irish beverages.
  • Grab a "freaky fast" sandwich at Jimmy John's before the parade starts and enjoy a picnic lunch as you watch the parade!
  • Treat the family to some popcorn or an ice cream cone at the Sugar Shack Sweet Shoppe before the parade starts.
  • Lakeview Pharmacy is celebrating 40 years. From March 1 -15, Lakeview is picking up the tab for select non-alcoholic drinks at Ivanhoe Pub & Eatery. 

  • Take advantage of your time in downtown and do a little shopping at one of our unique boutiques or galleries. Stores open at 10 a.m.
  • Everyone's Irish on Saturday, even Blanca! So stop by Casablanca de Mexico Restaurant & Lounge and sample their "Irish" margarita, made with Jameson Irish Whiskey. 
  • Stay late by visiting hot spots like, Joey's on 6th Street, Evelyn's Club Main, McAulliffe's Pub or envi ultra lounge to sample, warm, cold or even green Irish beverages.

On parade day, Casablanca de Mexico Restaurant & Lounge will be featuring Blanca's famous, mouth watering traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. (It's the only day Blanca can pretend to be "Irish").

To compliment your dinner, they will be serving their "Irish" margarita on Saturday and Sunday. It is sure to make any Leprechaun smile big! In addition to the Irish fare, there will be other specialty drinks and desserts to complete the celebration. Join them for lots of fun, food, spirits and surprise drawings. The 2014 Snowdance� 10 Minute Comedy Competition, which just ended its five week, sold out run.  A record-setting number of people visited Downtown Racine to attend Snowdance and cast their votes for the winners.

BONK! Performance Series

This month's BONK! will feature Detroit-based poet Jamaal May, Milwaukee-based indie-soul band Decoteau Black and Cedar Rapids, IA based poet and filmmaker Nick Twemlow. Each BONK! event features a short question and answer session with the artists at the end of the program.

 
The Magic of Mozart

First Presbyterian Church 
The Choral Arts Society (CAS) will amaze and astound you with The Magic of Mozart. Under the baton of Artistic Director James Schatzman, the CAS will perform with chamber orchestra and guest vocal soloists Nancy Anne Davis, Soprano; Brianne Sura, Mezzo Soprano; Michael Mueller, Tenor; Doug Clemons, Bass. Mozart's splendid and majestic Coronation Mass will be the focal point. Art Hopping
March 27th from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Head to Downtown Racine for cocktails and a whole lot of creativity! No art experience necessary! Art educators will be on-site to guide you step by step through the creative process. In this session of "Art Hopping", you will be painting martinis (and drinking them) to create a masterpiece, worthy of hanging in your home! Again, no experience is required! This is all just for fun...and who knows? You might be the next Monet!  The $35 registration fee includes the art activity, all supplies and two drinks. What's New at the Racine Public Library?      
Join the Racine Public Library for a spectacular line-up of educational workshops for kids, teens and adults.  All workshops are held at Racine Public Library located at 75 7th Street in Downtown Racine. Check out all that they have scheduled in March!
 
Create with Felt workshop
Tuesday, March 11th from 10:30 a.m. to Noon  
This class is open to children ages 6 through adults; however, children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants must be able to sew by hand. The workshop will offer a chance to create small springy ornaments out of felt materials. Registration is required, and limited to 20. Sign up at the Youth or Adult Services Reference desk or call at 262-636-9245.
 
Japanese Calligraphy workshop  
Monday, March 10th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 
This class is open to children ages 6 through adults; however, children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents of older children are encouraged to attend the workshop. Participants will be introduced to the Japanese alphabet, some characters and brush works for calligraphy. Participants will be able to take home their art works. Registration is required, and limited to 20. Sign up at the Youth or Adult Services Reference Desk or call at 262-636-9245. 
 
Diskette Notebooks 
March 11th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
This workshop is for Teens in grades 6-12. Participants will learn to recycle their old, out-dated 3-inch diskettes into new, trendy notebooks! The library will supply a limited amount of diskettes, but please feel free to bring your own! No registration required.

  

DIY Divergent Buttons
March 13th from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
This workshop is for Teens in grades 6-12. Participants will learn how to represent your faction of choice at the upcoming movie by making your own custom Divergent button at the library! Stop by anytime between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and supplies will be provided. No registration required.

Writing Workshops 
Every Thursday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. 
Join the Racine Public Library Wordshop, a weekly writer's group, where poets and writers of any age, experience level or background are welcome.  Meet other local writers, learn more about Racine's thriving literary community and get inspired every week to continue your passion and keep writing!  No registration is needed! Just join them on a Thursday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
