Celebrating the Season
This holiday season looks a little different from usual, but we're still getting into the holiday spirit! The pandemic has made certain things stand out; among them are our connectedness, community capacity for empathy, and the generosity of others. In 2020, we're celebrating family and friends, and the warmth of kindness between neighbors. We consider you our neighbor, too, even if you aren't geographically close. So we invite you to follow updates on our website and social media as we share photos and scenes from the season, and come join in if you like. Find details below about events and activities!
Please note: Because we can't safely gather for the events, the Christmas in the Park & Lighting of the Town event and the Christmas Parade have been canceled this year. However, the Town will be decorated with lights and wreaths as always. Here are other events & activities still happening:

Planning to Visit?
We've compiled details on local safety efforts that you may find helpful. The page also lists open attractions and changes they have implemented.
Our local inns and hotels are excited to welcome visitors this season! The charm of the holidays at a cozy inn just can't be matched. You may already have a favorite place to stay, but there are some new options in town! Both offering vacation rental spaces, Main & Pine is now open downtown and Blowing Rock Manor will open very soon.
If you're looking for extra holiday cheer, check out some local lodging packages.
Our restaurants are open, and they all offer take out options!
Keep in mind that staffing and supply changes can happen quickly, which may affect operating hours with little to no notice. For now, it's best to call ahead to check hours. Make reservations if you can, especially during peak times like weekends. Restaurants are still operating at reduced dining capacity, while the town still welcomes plenty of visitors.
Finding Space
While the Town will be glowing and open for business, there is also plenty of peace and quiet to be found just a few steps from Main Street. Try the challenge of the Glen Burney Trail, which follows waterfalls along New Year's Creek. Take a relaxing walk around Bass Lake or an easy hike around Price Lake.
Winter hikes bring the bonus of longer-range views, both because of colder air, and fewer leaves to block line of sight. And there is usually more solitude on the trails this time of year. Please help us take care of our natural spaces, and practice Leave No Trace principles on the trails.
