Alliance to Set '17 Agenda
It's a big week for members of the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance as they gather in Traverse City Friday to set the 2017 Legislative Agenda for Northern Michigan's business community.  The day-long event takes place at the Traverse Area District Library. Representatives of Chambers of Commerce across the region will discuss the impact of the recent state and federal elections, and hone in on the Alliance's top state and federal legislative priorities for the coming year. Look for a report on the event in next week's Chamber Bulletin.
Chamber members are welcome to a reception with area legislators following Friday's Legislative Agenda event. It will take place from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Cambria Suites, 255 Munson Ave. in Traverse City. Contact Government Relations Director Kent Wood  if you'd like to attend.

Overtime Pay Rules Delayed
New federal overtime rules scheduled to take effect December 1 have been delayed after a federal judge in Texas issued a nationwide injunction blocking enforcement of the new rules until a federal lawsuit on the issue is decided. The Chamber has been tracking this issue and updating its members throughout 2016, and will keep you informed of any new developments.
Here's a Chamber Alert issued last week by Government Relations Director Kent Wood following the court ruling. Contact him for more information at
