Laura NumeroffPlease join us for our free Open House on Saturday April 28th and meet New York Times best selling author, Laura Numeroff!

Laura will be attending our Open House and signing her newest book - Ponyella. Laura is most well known for her "If You Give" series. Her first book, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie", was published in 1985, and is still well loved. Laura's three passions are helping children with disabilities, books, and horses! Her newest book, Ponyella, is about a beautiful, white pony that has wicked step-sisters, a fairy "God mare", and loses her "horseshoe" when the clock strikes 12 PM in the afternoon! "I don't think Ponyella could be any more appropriate for this venue!" Laura told us. "I'm so honored to be a part of this absolutely, wonderful experience. I can't wait to meet everyone!"

There will be plenty of entertainment, vendors and fun activities for children including stick horse crafts, mini horses, chickens, a jolly jump, pony petting, face and hair painting and a hunt for Ponyella's horseshoe!   The Open House will also include demonstrations by our talented students highlighting the programs that Ride On provides including therapeutic riding and hippotherapy - physical therapy on horseback

There will be staff and board members on hand to talk about volunteer and involvement opportunities. The Open House will also recognize our support from the community and our partnership with Conejo Recreation and Park District. The event will be held at 401 Ronel Court, Newbury Park between 10am - 2pm. Lunch will be served between 11.30am and 1pm, the event is free and public are encouraged to attend. Our riders, instructors and of course our horses, are currently working hard in preparation for the upcoming CALNET State Championship Horseshow for riders with disabilities on May 12th and 13th at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank.  Our students will have the opportunity to compete in equestrian classes including dressage, pole-bending and equitation.  The show is hosted by Ride On and attracts almost 100 competitors from all over California.  Carrie
According to Bryan McQueeney, "it provides competition opportunities for children and adults who need much more support than able-bodied equestrians, it is one of the largest horseshows of its kind in the country.  Over 300 volunteers will team-up over the weekend to make it happen."
