CELTIC CRUSH Newsletter May 2014
|
Hi Crushers and Crushaholics: I hope you're having a great May and that the good times are finally coming your way. Thanks to everyone who's been coming out to see Black 47 over the last months. I guess a lot of people watch television because I'm still getting requests to see a clip of the band on the Tonight Show so herewith http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/segments/2811 We played Salsa O'Keefe on VH1 on St. Patrick's day too - here you go http://www.vh1.com/video/misc/1010245/salsa-okeefe-big-morning-buzz-live.jhtml
Black 47 will be playing Connolly's, 121 W. 45th St., NYC this Saturday May 10th. Lots of Crushers will be there. Make sure you come up and say hello. This will be our 2nd last gig at Connolly's, our old home ground so should be special.
For those who would like to join me on my annual trip to Ireland, the next one will begin on Nov. 18th. For playlists from the last couple of Celtic Crush shows, scroll down.
All the best, talk to you Saturday!

BLACK 47 is finishing off a number of t-shirt lines as their stock winds down. Among those are shirts related to specific CDs such as IRAQ, Bankers & Gangsters, Funky Ceili, Che Guevara Lynch and some others. A good guide to a future collector's item is to see if any sizes are out of stock - that usually means that we will not be re-ordering. There are also offers of 12 B47 CDs for $140 and book/CD offers. Take a look...

★★★★ On "Last Call," Black 47 s saves the best for last, using roots, rock, and reggae to bring the final curtain down on the most influential Irish American band in history." Mike Farragher/Irish Voice
**** Of all the bands that have mined their Celtic roots, Black 47 may be the most consistent. After 25 years of plying their craft in their native New York, these musical transplants have decided to call it a day, going out in style with the appropriately dubbed Last Call. True to form, they don't exit with a whimper but with a shout, and the result is a set of rousing, rocking anthems that are true to their signature sound... for more www.nodepression.com
**** Black 47 have been hugely significant in the Irish cultural genome of New York and farther beyond since their formation in 1989, so it is fitting that with Last Call, they have kept the good wine till the last. Oliver Sweeney, Fatea UK
